Pleasure Chest Marks Its 40th With Gloryhole Bash

Posted Sep 30th, 2011 04:59 PM

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Last night The Pleasure Chest celebrated four decades of bringing adult toys to the denizens of West Hollywood and Southern California with a gala celebration that drew big crowds and generated lots of good-natured fun.

Aside from the entertainment provided by perusing all manner of sex toys, from high-end to low, that lined the shelves at the venerable boutique, party-goers were also entertained by spanking and BDSM demonstrations, a buff and bare-chested stiltwalker, a magician, an acrobatic performance on silk ropes by adult star Belladonna, and some sexy vamping by April Flores, who was peered at by attendees through a wall lined with "gloryholes."

Tables were set up for "kinky crafts," and party-goers flocked to the photo booth to get souvenir shots from the event. Free drinks flowed, and a food truck dispensed poutine (Canada's answer to that junk food favorite, the French fry).

Many well-known faces from the sex-positive world were spotted during the evening, including sexpert Dr. Susan Block and adult stars Nina Hartley and Kristina Rose. To see a gallery of photos from the evening, including Belladonna's performance, click here.

Judge Holds Private, Board Directors in Contempt, Issues Fines

Judge Holds Private, Board Directors in Contempt, Issues Fines

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Nevada District Court Judge Kenneth C. Cory issued an order Wednesday in Consipio v. Private that found Private Media Group and four members of the Private Board of Directors in contempt of court “for 18 days of disobedience to the clear and unambiguous order of the court.” The order levied an overall fine of $360,000 against the parties, to be applied to the above four directors individually and also to Private as a corporate entity, with each ordered to pay $72,000.

However, the contempt order appears to be in direct conflict with an order issued one day earlier by the Nevada Supreme Court granting a temporary stay of the lower court’s contempt proceedings against Berth Milton. Milton, who is claiming that the court does not have personal jurisdiction over him, is one of the four directors found to be personally liable by Judge Cory. Also, in March of this year, District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez, the presiding judge in Consipio v Private, granted motions seeking the dismissal from the case of two other directors fined this week by Judge Cory, Bo Rodebrandt and Peter Dixinger, after determining that the court did not have personal jurisdiction over them.

AVN contacted Judge Cory’s executive assistant for an explanation of the apparent conflict with the Supreme Court directive, and was told that the judge was unaware of the stay, which was sent to Judge Gonzalez by the Supreme Court upon issuance of the stay. (AVN was also told by the assistant that a judge other than the presiding judge always issues rulings in contempt proceedings, which it why it was issued by Judge Cory and not Judge Gonzalez.)

AVN asked which order trumps the other, and was told that, as expected, the Supreme Court stay is the controlling authority. When asked what would happen next, the judge’s assistant said that she would first need to notify Judge Cory, who was currently in trial, of the stay. She could not say what he would do with the information. She also requested AVN to send her a copy of the stay to show the judge, which was promptly done.

In the email containing the requested stay order, AVN also asked for a clarification regarding the fines levied against directors Rodebrandt and Dixinger, who had previously been found to be outside the personal jurisdiction of the very same court. The judge’s assistant was not sure when she would be able to bring these questions to Judge Cory's attention, or whether an answer could be provided before the weekend. AVN also contected an assistant for Judge Gonzalez, who had no information regarding Judge Cory's involvement or whether the stay issued by the Supreme Court had been forwarded to Judge Cory's office.

The order by Judge Cory also contains Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law that purportedly support the contempt order. In part, the Finding of Fact section states, “Throughout the course of this lawsuit, [Private] has demonstrated a propensity for disregarding or resisting clear and unambiguous orders of this Court. Most egregiously, as set forth in the Court's June 20 Order, [Private] knowingly disobeyed the Court's October 21, 2010 Order, causing Consipio to be disenfranchised of its right to vote 3,950,000 [Private] shares at the 2010 annual shareholder meeting.”

According to Judge Cory's order, the failure by Private to comply with the Oct. 21 order resulted in the eventual invalidation of the results of the November 2010 shareholder election of the Private board of directors, the retention of control by CEO Berth Milton of the company, the time-consuming and expensive ordering of a new election, as well as the substantial and unnecessary attorneys fees and other costs that were subsequently incurred by the plaintiffs. According to Judge Cory, the abovementioned disobedience and resistance by Private to orders by the court was “willful and in open contempt of the lawful Order of the Court.”

Whether Judge Cory’s contempt order remains valid in whole or part in light of the Supreme Court stay remains to be seen. In any event, the high court, which earlier this month denied a motion by the plaintiffs seeking an emergency stay of the lower court’s appointment of Eric Johnson as receiver to oversee all of Private Media Group’s assets and subsidiaries, has agreed to address the underlying issues in the case—including the appointment by Judge Gonzalez of the receiver, the contested ownership of the Consipio shares and whether the court has personal jurisdiction over Berth Milton—during a hearing by the court following an expedited briefing schedule giving the parties 30 days from Sept. 16 in which to submit arguments.

According to that timeline, by about Oct. 15 the Supreme Court should have all the information it needs to render decisions on the outstanding issues contained in the four actions appearing on its docket that involve the various parties in Consipio v Private.

AVN contacted lawyers for the various parties for comment but had received no replies by post time. The attorney for Eric Johnson has told AVN that they do not discuss ongoing litigation or receivership matters with the media.

The Sept. 27 Contempt Order by Judge Cory can be accessed here.

LAFD.com Investigating Another Brazzers Public Shoot

LAFD.com Investigating Another Brazzers Public Shoot

Posted Sep 30th, 2011 03:35 PM

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Fire Department has initiated an investigation into an adult video shoot, the footage of which was posted on the Brazzers AssesInPublic.com website.

In a letter obtained by AVN that was sent to adult star Mariah Milano by Linda Cessor of the LAFD’s Professional Standards Division, the department requested to interview Milano regarding an AssesInPublic.com shoot that took place two summers ago.

The letter says that the department “is currently investigating a matter surrounding a video, which was taped on Melrose Avenue, in Los Angeles, CA. You may be a witness and your assistance in the matter is respectfully requested.”

In the video Milano can be seen strolling down a bustling Melrose Avenue selectively exposing herself. As she’s walking, an LAFD firetruck from Engine Co. 41 in Hollywood rolls by. One of the firefighters asks to see Milano’s ass as the truck passes, and she complies. There’s a little more light banter as the truck pulls away.

Milano told AVN that the shoot was not pre-planned and that the firefighters had no prior knowledge of it. She was not touched by any of the firefighters, nor did any leave the truck to interact with her. She did not board or touch the fire truck either.

Milano said that she will cooperate with the investigation and hopes to clear the firefighters “because they didn’t do anything. It wasn’t planned, and I didn’t want them to get in trouble,” she said.

To view a clip from the scene on Milano’s website, click here.

"I am not sure what point the LA Fire Department has reached in their investigation. However, should they require our assistance at any point, Brazzers will be happy to comply fully and completely," a spokesperson for Manwin, Brazzers' parent company, told AVN.

This is not the first time the Brazzers website has gotten into hot water and been the subject of an investigation by the city. In July, an L.A. traffic officer was fired after appearing in a public shoot that featured Kylee Reese.

Earlier this month, the LAFD started an investigation into another AssesInPublic.com shoot in which adult star Charley Chase poses on a fire truck parked in Venice Beach. Even L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa commented on the investigation. “It does cause me concern that a film of that type would be filmed anywhere close to city property. It’s unacceptable,” he said.

Chase also asserts that the firefighters had no prior knowledge of the shoot in which they did not participate and were not otherwise involved. However, unlike Milano’s extremely brief encounter, these firefighters from Venice Station 63 watched from a distance as Chase mounted and posed next to the truck while exposing herself.

Local news reports, however, claim that the firefighters were directly involved and even moved the truck to a better location so it could be more easily accessed by the film crew.

“The video alleges the Fire Department was directly involved—though anything having to do with filming goes through my office, and I can speak first and that any permit or permission was not granted or filed in our office,” LAFD spokesperson Capt. Jaime Moore said.

2012 AVN Awards Pre-Nom Site Now Open

Posted Sep 30th, 2011 03:32 PM

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network is now accepting pre-nominations for the 2012 AVN Awards Show. Producers, manufacturers and retailers should immediately request access to the restricted pre-nom website in order to submit their movies, products, outlets and other entities for awards consideration.

The 29th AVN Awards Show is scheduled for Jan. 21 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. A number of changes to award categories have been implemented this year, so those submitting pre-noms should closely study the list of categories and their descriptions as detailed below.

In order to be eligible for a 2012 AVN Award nomination, a movie or product must be released by Sept. 30, in accordance with the following guidelines: made available for VOD download and/or physically stocked with either 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets; movie titles only released via VOD as of Sept. 30 must be in stock in physical format with 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets no later than Oct. 15. The eligibility period includes any movie or product released between Oct. 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011.

To access the pre-nom site, candidates must first establish a user account on AVN.com (if they do not already have one) by entering their email address at this link: https://secure.avn.com/account/register/. Once you submit the form, a confirmation email will be sent to you at the address you entered. You must click the link in the confirmation email to activate your account.

Once you have an activated AVN.com user account, you must request access to the pre-nom site by clicking this link:

http://www.avn.com/prenom-request-form/

Users will be notified of their access with an email. If approved for access, they will also be provided a link in this email to the secret pre-nom site url. The site will remain open until midnight Oct. 15.

AVN strongly suggests you begin submitting your nominations now and continue to do so through Oct. 15 as there will be no extensions of the deadline. Once a password is activated, you can go to the site as many times as necessary.

“We felt that with the awards show taking place two weeks later than it has traditionally, companies should be given a correlating amount of extra time to submit their pre-noms to us,” said AVN senior editor Peter Warren. “And even though our release deadline for eligibility remains the same, we've made a few much called-for changes both as far as categories and our stipulations regarding release methods that I think better reflect the industry's evolving distribution models and should be well received."

AVN asks producers and manufacturers to be judicious in their pre-noms, submitting only those titles and items they strongly believe have a chance at being nominated rather than submitting all product released during the eligibility period.

Production companies must supply AVN with all pertinent information in their pre-nom entries, including the full stage names of all the performers in the sex scenes and the names of all the behind-the-camera professionals in the technical categories such as editing, cinematography, music and others.

By Oct. 15, AVN asks that producers send two (2) DVD copies of each movie or series it would like considered, as well as sample materials used in marketing campaigns if seeking consideration in those categories. Novelty companies should also provide two (2) samples of each product they would like considered. All items should be mailed or hand-delivered to:

AVN Media Network

L.A. Weekly’s ‘Porn Defends Money Shot’ Misses the Mark

L.A. Weekly's 'Porn Defends Money Shot' Misses the Mark

LOS ANGELES—One doesn't have to read far into Dennis Romero's interesting piece in the current LA Weekly to get an idea of his mindset regarding the porn industry. Just five paragraphs, actually.

"Oh, Princess Leia—played by Vivid Entertainment's newest contract star, Allie Haze," Romero wrote. "If not for Haze strutting around the set, her hair in trademark buns, her obscene curves visible beneath a sheer white gown, it all would have been an absolute bore."

"Obscene curves"??? Not "sexy curves"; not "attractive curves"; "obscene curves." Of course, we're sure "obscene" isn't meant to be taken literally/legally. It's just reflective of mainstream journalism's too-frequent reaction to an industry that deals with the human race's primary activity since the dawn of time—sex—and the people who inhabit that industry.

Another clue? How about his backhanded put-down of adult performers who, concerned about AIDS Healthcare Foundation's ongoing attempts to drive the adult movie and internet business out of California, attended a meeting of the CalOSHA subcommittee that's considering AHF's petition to change the California Health Code: "You've never seen such tight jeans and structurally sound body parts in a Caltrans facility." Because, like, y'know, before considering what the performers might actually have to say about their own profession and/or health status, you've got to know they're too good-looking to pay serious attention to their words!

And then there's that long description of an industry get-together at R Lounge, where Romero obsesses on the fact that adult performers don't have the same kind of body modesty that, apparently, "decent people" have, since they have no problem showing bare tit or hiking up their skirts, revealing thongs underneath ... "and when the performers plop onto a low-slung couch there's no need for that wiggling wardrobe dance familiar to any woman who has worn a short skirt."

Of course, even biased reporters can turn in good stories about the object of their bias, but this isn't one of them. Romero's central contention is that because some adult actors also moonlight as escorts (which, for Romero, is "a kinder term for prostitutes")—some of whom "are almost assuredly not using condoms, then returning to local porn sets ... without a word"—it's only proper that the city or state or feds force them to wear condoms when they have sex with other performers.

And how does Romero know that "[s]ome [actresses] are most assuredly not using condoms" when they have sex outside the performer pool, whether with their current partners or people who might hire them for sex? The article gives no clue, and although AVN has not done a study of performers' off-camera sex lives, in this reporter's 20-year contact with the California-based portion of the industry, every actress with whom this reporter has discussed the subject has assured that she uses condoms. Why? Because each is well aware that while her on-camera partners are tested at least monthly for STDs, those outside the industry very well may not be, so they use condoms with those untested partners for protection.

And indeed, Romero has no idea how many actresses may be escorting, since he admits that although a couple of familiar names show up in classified ads offering "private meet-ups": "[i]t's not clear if someone is just capitalizing on the monikers of famous porn stars or if such ads are for real." Wouldn't it matter if they were "for real," if the central theme of the article were that porn stars were in fact escorting?

And who has this information, and are those "informants" reliable? Well, one of the accusers is AHF president Michael Weinstein, who's made it pretty clear that he has an ax to grind on this subject—and no problem making (to be kind) misleading statements in service of that agenda. Another source is retired actress Gina "Demi Delia" Rodriguez, who mysteriously showed up on a Nightline segment involving the most recent HIV scare along with Weinstein, so it's reasonable to wonder if she's in AHF's employ ... or possibly another Shelley Lubben/Pink Cross Foundation acolyte? And finally, there's the unnamed performer "who quit the business last year and is now a full-time escort."

But one thing Rodriguez said inadvertently made sense: "Even if the girls are using condoms when they're escorting, it's doubtful they're going to be kept totally clean. There's a lot of contact there." Really? So condoms don't necessarily prevent the transmission of disease, or at least not much (if any) better than the current testing regime? So the only way to escort—or make porn—safely would be to encase the partners in hazmat suits?

Intertwined in this somehow is Romero's fantasy that the adult movie industry survives on "the money shot"—the visual depiction of men ejaculating on women (in hetero porn) or men (gay porn)—and that the real reason why the industry is so opposed to condoms is that if they were used, nobody could be shown cumming on anybody else.

Sadly for Romero, no one's ever made that argument, because it's horseshit: Even Wicked Pictures, one of the few (hetero) companies that mandates condom use in its productions, has no problem with male performers cumming on women's breasts, feet, thighs, arms—in fact pretty much anywhere but the eyes, mouth or internally, because as any actress will tell you, cum in the eye REALLY hurts. And even if a total "barrier protection" regime were implemented, male actors could still ejaculate on their partners, although the partners' faces would be protected from contact with the (harmless) semen by face shields, their hands by rubber gloves, and their pussies and asses (and any other body part) by latex dental dams or other plastic or rubber sheeting. Sure, it would look stupid, but it could be done fairly easily.

Finally, Romero shoots himself in the foot due to his ignorance of porn history—and as might be expected, his "history lessons" from former actor/agent Bill Margold didn't help.

For instance, Margold would have Romero believe that "[i]t wasn't until 1993, when another HIV outbreak hit the industry, that porn began to think seriously about how to confront the virus and other STDs." In fact, there was no "HIV outbreak" in '93; there was just one performer, Carrie Morgan, who, after performing in one scene, tested positive on an ELISA test (which was then the industry standard, much like it is the current AHF standard), and as a precautionary measure, six or eight people were "quarantined" until they could be tested. All were found to be negative, and although the incident occasioned an industry-wide meeting, essentially nothing changed. The ELISA test remained the "standard" until the 1998 Marc Wallice (actual) outbreak, after which AIM was formed and the much more reliable PCR-DNA test became the standard.

Other "facts" are wrong as well. For instance, Romero writes, "Of the 10 HIV cases in the porn industry that both the AHF and the Free Speech Coalition agree have cropped up since 2005, the industry says nearly all were contracted off-set, the implication being that many of the original virus carriers didn't work in the industry." In fact, there have been just two HIV cases "in the porn industry that ... have cropped up since 2005": The person known as "Patient Zero," who definitely did contract her infection off the set, and sometime-hetero performer Derrick Burts, who may or may not have contracted his during a gay shoot, or possibly from escorting, but definitely not on a straight porn set where performers are tested.

Romero also has his timeline wrong regarding the closing of AIM. He attributes that disaster to what happened "last spring, when a website called PornWikiLeaks put online, for the world to see, performers' medical records, apparently culled from AIM's database and sometimes matched with addresses that are federally required to ensure movie performers aren't underage." That'd be quite a trick, since AIM has been closed since December of last year.

In fact, AIM was driven out of business by both CalOSHA, which insisted through subpoenas that AIM compromise the medical privacy of Patient Zero, who sued both that agency and AIM to maintain her anonymity, and AHF, whose staff attorney Brian Chase offered to represent former performer Diana "Desi Foxx" Grandmason for free in a lawsuit claiming that she had been forced, through AIM's voluntary disclosure form, to violate her own medical privacy in order to perform in adult movies. Romero does mention AHF "complaints" against AIM, although AHF has never publicly described AIM's testing procedures as "the new enabler in the industry's denial about condoms."

Romero also seems to have trouble understanding the fact that—since hetero performers undergo regular STD testing while gay performers generally don't, and the gay porn industry generally has no problem using HIV-positive performers—there's a non-homophobic reason why hetero performers are leery of guys who "cross over" from hetero to do gay porn. So to give any credence to Weinstein's claim that "criticism of crossover performers [is] 'just code' for gay bashing" is just bad reporting.

There's plenty to take issue with in Romero's article, so consider the above just "food for thought." But one would think that in Los Angeles, of all places, the current home of the adult movie industry, a local publication as widely read locally as the L.A. Weekly would want to fact-check its stories about one of the Valley's largest industries a bit more closely.

Epicenter Goes Epic with Topco and Penthouse

Posted Sep 30th, 2011 08:07 AM

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Adult novelty manufacturer, Topco Sales took to the road with the Backstage Artist Lounge last Saturday to bring its Penthouse Pet Collection to the Epicenter Festival. The Sept. 24 event featured headliners Limp Bizkit, Staind, Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) and Papa Roach along with nearly one dozen other bands.

"We were definitely the hottest thing in the lounge," said Erica Heathman, Marketing Communications Manager for Topco Sales. "Between our video montage of Pets being molded and the presence of Penthouse Pets Taylor Vixen and Jaime Lynn, Topco owned the place!"

Throughout the day, musicians, crew and roadies from nearly every band in the lineup, visited the Topco Sales booth to meet Taylor Vixen and Jamie Lynn, Penthouse Pets of the Year 2010 and 2006, respectively. Many of the guys (and a few gals) left with their very own Penthouse Pet CyberSkin toys. The most popular pieces of the day were of course Taylor and Jamie but a few notables like Jeremy Spencer and Jason Hook from 5FDP nabbed Alexis Winston replicas while lead singer Ivan Moody took home Veronica Ricci. Crossfade drummer Mark Castillo and Joe from the P.O.D. crew had fun posing with Justine Joli's feet and Buckcherry guitarist Stevie D. grabbed an official Penthouse guitar strap to use on stage at Epicenter.

"Just as we suspected, the band members loved meeting the Penthouse Pets and checking out the toys molded directly from their lady parts," added Amanda Byrd, Penthouse director of licensing. "Life on the road can get lonely and now they know where to find some custom lovin'!"

For video and pictures from the event, follow Facebook.com/TopcoSales. In conjunction with the Penthouse Pet appearance at Epicenter, PenthouseStore.com is offering visitors to the site a discount of 25 percent off their entire order with the KROQ Epicenter promotion code PET25.

For more information about the Penthouse Pet Collection from Topco Sales contact your local distributor or Topco Sales account representative today, or visit TopcoSales.us.

Euro Producers Talk About Selling American

Euro Producers Talk About Selling American

This article originally appeared in the September 2011 issue of AVN. Click here to see the online edition of the magazine.

The prevailing sentiment, at least among us egocentric Americans, is that you haven’t truly made it until you make it big here. While that trite saying might just be a piece of chauvinistic puffery, there is no doubt the economic consumer force in this country is the largest in the world. Simply put, the buying power of Americans is unmatched.

While many in this country also believe the U.S. is the be-all, end-all for culture (Jersey Shore, anyone?), that would certainly be a myopic view. In terms of adult entertainment, however, there is no question that the U.S. represents the biggest market—and in many cases the hardest nut to crack for adult producers overseas.

Whether it’s the risk-averse adult retailer hesitant to gamble on new product, or the initial shyness of consumers to plunk down their hard-earned ducats on adult titles starring foreign performers, up until the past decade and a half the foreign market was represented on store shelves by no more than a handful of companies, Private Media Group being the largest.

The gonzo era ushered in powerhouses like Rocco Siffredi, Ben Dover, Pierre Woodman, Viv Thomas, Cristoph Clark and, more recently, Raul Cristian and Gazzman. A far cry from the overly dramatic, cinematic style of their predecessors, whom most associate with Euro porn, these modern auteurs dish out the kink like never before.

Due to the U.S. consumers’ increasing acceptance of other cultures and their insatiable demand for the newest product wherever it may originate from—among other factors, of course—the market has never before been as rife with top-shelf productions from companies based overseas, some of which have since moved stateside.

In keeping with the international, Euro-tinged flavor of this issue, we explored the approaches these companies took to successfully penetrate the American market. Some are still based in their home countries, with products sold here via distribution deals, while others set up shop in the U.S. in order to handle their distribution in-house.

What we’ve learned from speaking to numerous European companies with an American presence is that there is no one conventional way to capture the American consumers’ collective attention, though Marc Dorcel Managing Director Gregory Dorcel noted that the American populace is more susceptible to a slick marketing campaign than the more skeptical Euros. After all, Americans have perfected selling the sizzle without the steak.

Various firsthand distribution and marketing methods will be discussed in these pages, but the bottom line is that superior content will always win out.

DIY Distribution

One such success story is that of Harmony Films, which signed a distribution deal with Evil Angel in 2005, shortly after the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. Harmony, a large high-end U.K.-based retailer, had recently launched a video production division helmed by director Gazzman, who came to the company from Private, where he directed Scottish Loveknot, the 2004 AVN Award winner for Best Foreign Feature.

An irrepressible Scot, Gazzman (whom you might recognize as the dapper chap who always dons a kilt for the AVN Awards), brought Harmony Films to the U.S. with a bang, producing hard, Euro-style content with an edge that featured Europe’s top performers. In addition to the highly regarded Young Harlots and Slam It! series, Gazzman also discovered Nikki Jayne, the statuesque blonde who went on to become a Vivid Girl.

The company also was on the forefront of bringing American girls to shoot in Europe, as it did with Bobbi Starr for 2008’s America’s Best: Bobbi Starr, which was shot in a haunted Czechoslovakian castle with European talent. The company also regularly brings Euro performers stateside to shoot with talent on this side of the pond.

After close to three successful years partnering with Evil Angel for DVD distribution in the U.S., the company decided to strike out on its own and self-distribute in 2008. Harmony Films co-owner Steve Elvins cited an increased shooting schedule and new creative directions as factors in the company’s decision to leave the Evil Empire.

“[Co-owner] Danny O’Sullivan and I are very grateful for the support that Evil Angel has given Harmony Films over the past couple of years,” Elvins said at the time. “We now would like to expand the brand by taking on a couple more directors so we can start to release three or possibly four films a month. When we released one film a month, it worked fine for both Evil Angel and ourselves—but we would not expect the situation to be mutually beneficial if we increase our releases. Our films will have a different feel and look to Evil Angel’s, so this will create a marketing problem which would be easier resolved if Harmony Films stood on its own two feet.”

So, Harmony utilized Evil Angel’s retail pipeline to gain a foothold in the slippery American market and then struck out on its own, until striking a distro deal with Zero Tolerance Entertainment, which also handles U.K.-based Daring Media Group.

Bluebird Films followed a similar trajectory to Harmony. Arriving from England in 2009, and helmed by English attorney and playboy Paul Chaplin, Bluebird debuted with a bang, constructing a multimillion-dollar sound stage in Los Angeles, and has since gone on to produce numerous AVN Award-winning blockbusters that utilize both European and American talent.

The studio’s contract players, dubbed Glambirds, have gone a long way toward introducing U.S. audiences to the finest British birds in the industry. The company’s exclusives include Gemma Massey, Natasha Marley, Anna Lovato and current U.S. exclusive Dylan Ryder.

Initially distributed by Pure Play Media, then Private Media Group, Bluebird decided to bring its distribution in-house. The company now distributes its own productions in addition to lines from Nicholas Steele and the legendary AVN Hall of Famer Ben Dover.

Old World Eroticism

One interesting story is that of Justin Ribeiro dos Santos, principal and director of London-based boutique producer Joybear Pictures, makers of “stylish films for couples.” After winning the Playboy U.K. reality TV show Double Entry—Making It Big in which participants were given 8,000 pounds to produce an adult film, dos Santos decided to dive headlong in the adult industry in 2003.

Distributed throughout Europe and most prominently in Harmony and Ann Summers shops in the U.K., dos Santos had his eyes on a bigger prize—America.

A chance meeting with Penthouse Studios President Kelly Holland at AEE in 2008 led to an introduction to Wicked Pictures owner Steve Orenstein and Vice President Joy King, who then inked the studio to a U.S. distribution deal. For dos Santos and his company, the meeting was quite fortuitous as he was exploring stateside distro.

“I really thought I could do it myself,” dos Santos said. Through a contact in New York, he started gathering information on retail shops, “but that didn’t last long; it was entirely too cumbersome. So, now, it was a question of finding a good partner. It was better that I stick to production because sales would be entirely too time consuming.”

After working through specifics of the deal, Joybear’s relationship with Wicked commenced in September 2009.

“America is just such a big territory to start with—it’s completely daunting—so we had to trust our partner,” dos Santos said. “Wicked has such a stellar reputation that I thought it would be a privilege to be distributed by them. They know the market and have a great distribution pipeline. They believe in our movies and it shows.”

Similarly, Viv Thomas, the European lesbian glamour king, found entry into the U.S. market quite challenging. The Portugal-based company had gone through a trio of distro deals with U.S. companies beginning in 2003, to finally arrive at SMG Video, which also operates the popular online retail site LezLoveVideo.com.

“We didn’t have any solid contacts in the U.S. and didn’t entertain the thought of self-distributing,” Viv Thomas director Nick Spillum said. “Partnering up with SMG Video was by far the best thing for us to do. Otherwise we would have to create a much larger, more riskier enterprise. We weren’t familiar at all with the U.S. marketplace and that unknown factor definitely concerned us. Thankfully SMG was great and really helped us out.”

For Viv Thomas the timing was just right for his type of content—lovingly lensed lesbian encounters imbued with a natural eroticism—to enter the marketplace. Spillum said that the U.S. market accounts for approximately 50 percent of the company’s business.

“I think our content was a breath of fresh air to many of the U.S. fans,” Spillum continued. “It’s quite different in many respects and a few short years ago there wasn’t much quality porn on offer that simulated normal, passionate lovemaking. We certainly try and bring that across in our films: that sex is beautiful; women should be respected, worshipped. Adult entertainment should be passionate, made with feeling and genuine intimacy.”

Bicontinental Gonzo

Cruel Media’s Raul Cristian took a decidedly different tack—he wanted to dominate both sides of the world simultaneously. For those preferring harder fare, look no further than Cruel Media, helmed by Budapest’s Cristian, who got his start producing content for the Perfect Gonzo affiliate program in 2000. Cristian’s hardcore internet content on such sites as TamedTeens.com, PrimeCups.com and AssTraffic.com caught the eye of Evil Angel founder John Stagliano in 2007.

Stagliano, recognizing Cristian’s perverted sensibility in addition to his high-end production values, inked a distribution deal with the Romanian-born producer for five of his lines, including My Evil Sluts, a BDSM-inflected all-girl line helmed by the deliciously deviant Clara G. Cruel Media has won AVN awards for the past four years in a row.

In addition to his deal with the Evil Empire, Cristian also has a few of his company’s lines distributed by Jules Jordan Video due to Evil Angel’s “no creampie” policy. All Internal, Give Me Pink and Cum for Cover are all helmed by Cristian under the pseudonym Chris Rolie.

Cristian now skates back and forth between Los Angeles and Budapest, churning out upwards of 600 scenes per year, and spending weeks at a time in L.A. on marathon production schedules. To wit: Cristian’s second-ever trip to L.A. to shoot was for two and a half weeks to film 35 scenes budgeted at over $200,000 all told. According to him, it was his plan all along and something it took years to achieve.

“I worked hard to become official here,” he said. “Now I have a company here, I pay taxes here, I have a green card, now I can start to shoot. As a green card holder it’s much easier to do anything. That’s the plan I had many, many years ago, even though I was shooting in Europe. I knew I had to at least come to this country to shoot.”

Dorcel and Diversification

No discussion of “coming to America” success stories would be complete without a prominent mention of the venerable Marc Dorcel, a French institution. Founded in 1979, Dorcel is a global giant. Not only a producer of award-winning films, it also operates retail stores, a content licensing business, an active internet presence with 2 million monthly visitors, IPTV, video-on-demand, and a robust satellite and cable distribution business—Dorcel TV—that broadcasts 24 hours a day to more than 800,000 subscribers.

Through its diversification, Dorcel managed to buck the prevailing economic trend as the global economy sunk into the throes of the recession in 2008 and reported sales improved by 26 percent from the previous year.

Dorcel first arrived on these sandy shores through a distribution arrangement with Vivid Entertainment, but has since—for the better part of 10 years—been in partnership with Wicked Pictures for distribution. Dorcel had a previous relationship with Orenstein and Wicked through various content licensing agreements the two companies had for years to bring Wicked content to Europe.

“We believe that Wicked is an ideal partner for us. They believe in producing high-quality, big-budget, exciting movies just like we do,” Gregory Dorcel said. “It has been a great partnership, and I do believe the U.S. customer has responded to our movies because it’s something different; most likely locations, girls and directors they are not familiar with. So it’s the thrill of the unknown that makes it even more erotic.”

Dorcel also believes that a key component to its success was its appearance, alongside Wicked, at AEE.

“We came to Vegas with our girls and used it as an opportunity to directly engage the American fan so they could see us, they could see our product and they could realize the high quality of our productions,” Dorcel said. In subsequent years the company has relied on Wicked’s marketing expertise to determine what types of promotional campaigns it should launch in order to engage the retailer and the consumer.

It’s been a slow trickle of acceptance of foreign content into American DVD players at first, but now, as global markets have opened up for many consumer goods, from the most depraved gonzo to the blockbuster, the consumer has never had a bigger variety when selecting movies to purchase from Europe. The clear winner in this scenario is the American consumer, and that’s great for retailers, too.

Hungarian Right-wing Politician Quits Over Porn Performer Past

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

BUDAPEST, Hungary—Zoltan Kabai, the head of a regional chapter of Hungary’s “right-wing populist” political party, Jobbik, has resigned his position with the party following the revelation that he also is Zoltan Cowboy, an adult performer whose career began in the early '90s.

According to politics.hu, “Local porn producer István ‘Kovi’ Kovács revealed in an upcoming autobiography that Jobbik politician Zoltán Kabai was one of his main male talents for approximately ten years in the 1990s.”

According to iafd.com, Kabai, who has used at least 10 aliases during his porn career, last appeared in an adult video in 2009, in non-sex roles in Tunnel Butts 2 and 3, which were distributed by Jules Jordan Video. His last listed sex role was in 2007, for Young Harlots: The Governess, distributed by Harmony Films. In total, he is credited with appearing in over 80 adult productions.

Kabai is reportedly upset with being outed as a porn star, and has threatened legal action against Kovács. But his protestations ring somewhat hollow considering the spin he is putting on his career.

“Kabai did not deny starring in adult films earlier in his life, but said that was nearly twenty years ago and that he was considering legal action as the news of Kovács’s upcoming book caused ‘family problems’ for him, which we assume means he probably wasn’t entirely honest with his missus about the jobs on his résumé,” reported politics.hu, which added that Jobbik has publicly supported Kabai following the revelations.

One reason for the support may be that Kabai is not the first Jobbik member to have performed in porn… or the second. According to Business Insider, “It was revealed last year that a former party member, Vivian Katona (aka Honey Lovely), was also in the business of making adult movies. And, if that wasn't enough, Katona's resignation followed weeks after a member of the party's paramilitary wing, the Hungarian Guard, was also a porn actress. Nikolett Muller, who also resigned, had appeared in 150 adult films.”

Business Insider noted that the incident is embarrassing given the party’s stance as a bastion of Christian family values, but that claim rings hollow as well. Jobbik’s far right reactionary positions on nationalism, immigration, crime and, of course, Israel, without doubt trump any demands they make of their members to behave like true Christians. But you don’t have to travel to Hungary to find that level of political or sexual hypocrisy, now, do you?

Still, one does wonder if there is something about Hungarian culture that draws their former porn stars into the far right wing orbit, though who knows? Maybe here in the States we also have a number of porn stars who proudly carry the banner of the Posse Comitatus.

The social networks were a-buzz once attendees made it back to their offices, ready to share their delight on The Screaming O’s Facebook page—Facebook.com/ScreamingO, which featured a steady stream of warm wishes, excited compliments, and eager requests for product.

“The hit of ILS!” wrote adult distributor Holiday Products.

Honey’s Place’s Rob Walker enthusiastically chimed in with, “Game changer!!!”

“Awesome guys. Congratulations. I want ALL of it in all my stores. Excellent concept, product development and marketing execution,” wrote Charles Craton of adult retail chain Sexy Suz.

And the home pleasure party market went wild after spending the three-dayLas Vegastrade show reveling at the unique line of carrying cases, sensation-enhancement balms, and fashionably discreet vibes.

“The Screaming O gives us something else to scream about ... Cosmetics!!!! WOW! They just keep screaming louder and better. Congrats!” wrote the Home Pleasure Party Plan Association, HPPPA.org.

The Studio Collection will make its international debut at the eroFame Trade Convention Oct. 5-7 on display and in full makeup at the Creative Conceptions, booth 61. Contact Keith Caggiano for an appointment at keith@screamingo.com.

The new line marks the first time a complete set of intimate products was designed and merchandised as a matched set, speaking to women’s unique sense of sensual style while remaining chic and discreet enough to conceal in plain sight.

Immense time and effort was spent exclusively with women in and out of the beauty industry, whose critiques and suggestions helped assure each fashionable vibe, enhancement cream, and carrying case appeals to this targeted consumer demographic.

The complete set includes a Lipstick, Mascara Wand, and Makeup Brush vibrator; a matching cooling and warming intimate enhancement balm encased in an eye shadow pot; clitoral stimulation gel in a cleverly chic lip gloss tube; a Sexy Secrets Makeup Compact with a hidden bullet vibe inside; and a portable makeup purse that holds the entire collection in one portable pouch.

“The Studio Collection was a huge hit for the lingerie industry, as there are retailers around the world who don’t carry adult products because their packaging and styling fail to match their stores’ elegant aesthetic,” The Screaming O partner Keith Caggiano said. “This fashion-forward line is as discreet as it is sophisticated and buyers are excited to have a line of adult products that they can easily introduce to their consumer market.”

High-impact showcase displays, high-fashion full-color signage, and beautiful in-store marketing accessories in The Studio Collection’s signature black, white and red hues evoke a mainstream department store feel. Remember When Condoms Prevented Babies? Someone Does!

Remember When Condoms Prevented Babies? Someone Does!

THE FUTURE—Most people probably don't think about it a lot, but by Halloween this year, Earth will be host to 7 billion humans—double what it was in 1970—and by the end of the century, barring The Rapture or some similar cataclysm, it'll be 10 billion. That's a lot.

The Center for Biological Diversity (CDB) does think about such things, in part because that mass of people consume—some would say "overconsume"—an awful lot of stuff, in the process causing not only environmental destruction but driving certain species into extinction, destroying wildlife habitats and making pretty much everyone's standard of living that much worse—and considering what that standard is for some populations already, they really can't afford for that to deteriorate further.

"The human race is not only the most populous large mammal on Earth but the most populous large mammal that has ever existed," a CDB press release states. "Providing for the needs and wants of this many people—especially those in high-consumption, developed countries—has pushed homo sapiens to absorb 50 percent of the planet's freshwater and develop 50 percent of its landmass. As a result, other species are running out of places to live."

"Our planet is in the midst of its sixth mass extinction. Hundreds of plant and animal species are disappearing from our planet every day, never to return," the CDB continues. "In fact, scientists say species today are going extinct 100 to 1,000 times faster than normal. They're going extinct because of us—people."

So what's the answer? Well, aside from CDB's anti-overpopulation ad that's currently running in Times Square, and the inauguration of their "7 Billion and Counting" campaign with its Pop-X newsletter, the organization is also distributing Endangered Species Condoms—hundreds of thousands of them.

Each Endangered Species Condom package has a photo of one endangered species on its cover. The current crop includes the polar bear, the snail darter, the spotted owl, the American burying beetle, the jaguar and the Puerto Rican (coquí guajón) rock frog, with more endangered species likely to come.

The CDB expects to give out over 100,000 Endangered Species Condoms in 2011, so as the U.S. Department of Health used to say in public service ads back in the '80s, "Wrap That Rascal!"

Wicked Releases 4-Disk 'Horizon' Digital Combo Pack

Posted Sep 29th, 2011 11:07 AM

LOS ANGELES—From award-winning director Sam Hain comes the special effects-driven science fiction epic Horizon, arriving in a special Blu-ray/DVD digital combo pack September 30th from Wicked Pictures. A current AVN Editor's Choice, the film showcases Wicked Girls Jessica Drake, Kaylani Lei and Alektra Blue in a futuristic battle beyond the stars that will leave you breathless.

Since its theatrical premiere in Hollywood last week, Hain's sci-fi adventure has been earning impressive notices in the press. In his Editor's Choice review, AVN's Mark Kernes raves that "overall, Horizon's ambiance is top-notch" and that everything in the film "looks right, from floating holographic images to the undulating forehead of the chief alien—and, perhaps more importantly, it all sounds right, with physical space well-defined by excellent audio cues."

The critics at Adult DVD Talk were similarly impressed, championing each of the feature's six explosive sex scenes and giving the movie a stellar 4.5 out of 5.0 overall rating.

Skillfully written and directed by Hain, Horizon  embraces the science fiction genre while taking adult entertainment to the next level. The most cutting edge technology (including the first use of the new Red Epic camera system in an adult movie) and astonishing special effects have been expertly woven together to bring you an epic tale of love and survival.

As Hain's tale begins, an alien species has destroyed most of the human race, and a lone military ship, Horizon, is sent back to Earth to exterminate the invaders. Tensions, tempers and sexual appetites heat up amongst the crew as they realize that they may not survive the ordeal. Their mission turns into a war of survival as they encounter enemy ships, fire fights, a beautiful mind-controller, vicious "Crawlers" and the threat of mutiny. But who will be more of a threat: The creatures lurking outside...or their fellow crew members?

A compelling cast of today's top stars, including AVN Best Actress Kimberly Kane and critically acclaimed performers Misty Stone, Bobbi Starr, Aiden Starr and Andy San Dimas join Jessica, Kaylani and Alektra on a truly impressive journey across both time and space.

In addition to DVD and Blu-ray editions of the film, the Horizon Digital Combo Pack includes a plethora of outrageous special features, including a look behind the scenes of Horizon and a behind-the-scenes sex reel. Other features include three bonus sex scenes (one featuring each of the Wicked Girls in the movie), multiple photo galleries, trailers, a digital copy of the film, and much more. And for a limited time, this multi-disc spectacle is being released in foil-embossed gatefold packaging.

Sam Hain. Wicked Pictures. Horizon.

As sci-fi legend Alfred Bester might say, Let the stars be your destination. The next evolution in erotic science fiction arrives on Earth September 30, 2011.

On the Set: Reality Junkies’ ‘Filthy Family 4′

This article originally ran in the August 2011 issue of AVN. Click here to see a digital version of the magazine.

CANOGA PARK, Calif.—The "Filthy Family portrait" shot on the set of the Reality Junkies production Filthy Family 4, pretty much says it all. There's the aloof dad, played by Tommy Gunn, flanked by wife (and frequent Best MILF Performer nominee) Tanya Tate in a low-cut blouse and Asa Akira in her maid's outfit, holding a feather-duster in one hand, and resting the other tellingly on Tommy's shoulder. Then there's the three kids, Chanel Preston, Lily LaBeau and Victoria Rae Black, smiling seductively and obviously ready for action.

And action is what Filthy Family 4 delivers—in loads.

"This is the story about a family and their adventures outside of that family," explained director Bobby Manila. "So they would have sex with their neighbors, or like their son's girlfriend, but not between themselves; there's no incest going on. They can't even see each other naked; Mile High doesn't allow it, because we want to feed the clean fantasy of the dad cheating on his wife; the wife cheating on her husband with the cute guy next door; and the daughters going off with their bad-boy boyfriends. So it deals with a family of horny people."

Manila added, "We try to pick girls who are doing something with their careers. We try to pick girls that are top-ranked on FreeOnes, and we check other sites as far as their rankings, and we tend to pick girls who do very well on those sites. The days of shooting DVDs, of shooting one hot girl and then putting four ugly dogs in the movie, are gone now; every scene counts these days, so we try to give the customers more bang for their buck. That's one reason it's been a very popular series."

We can see why. The day's shooting started with dialogue, setting up two basic though interconnected scenarios: Tommy's going to the airport to pick up daughters Victoria and Lily, who've been away someplace for a while, and Tanya's planning a dinner party for them and some friends, assisted by Asa, who's a bit miffed that Tanya talks to her as if, just because she's Asian, she doesn't understand English.

Then it's time for the sex. First up is Tanya, who tries to tell Chanel's ex-boyfriend, Rocco Reed, that her daughter's moved on now and he should stop coming to the house and bothering her. Just to make sure he gets the message, she fucks him on the couch, taking his ample member in her mouth, letting him lick her tits and pussy, then fucking him missionarily, riding him in both directions, then presenting her butt for doggie. (Sorry; no anal; that's for later.)

Certainly in the running for this movie's best scene is the next one to be shot. Asa complains to Tommy about his wife's talking down to her, but just to show there's no hard feelings, she releases his cock from his trousers and begins sucking on it. The sex proceeds with mainly the same positions as the Tanya/Rocco match-up, but once Asa climbs into Tommy's lap for cowgirl, it's as if someone kicked her ass into Red Bull overload: It moves up and down so fast, it's practically a blur.

Next up, Tommy warns Chanel and multi-tattooed boyfriend Barry Scott that they'd better behave themselves. Rebel that she is, Chanel skips vaginal penetration altogether and lets Barry stick it right into her ass. He fucks her nether hole every which way from Sunday, often with his hand on her throat for extra kink, until the pair collapse exhausted on the couch.

Finally, we get to see lanky brunette (and former Playboy model) Victoria pleasure boyfriend Justin Magnum in all the usual positions, and it's quite clear that the young starlet just lives getting her clit stimulated by Justin's massive pronger. Too bad we couldn't stick around for Lily's scene with Ryan Blaze, but we're sure it's at least as good as the rest.

Filthy Family 4 will be released by Reality Junkies/Mile High on Sept. 28.

LAS VEGAS—This week Bluebird Films lets the Katwoman out of the bag with the release of this year’s Nicholas Steele blockbuster feature KatwomanXXX on Friday.

Bluebird exclusive Dylan Ryder stars as the frisky feline fatale in the most highly anticipated role of her career.

“I wasn't sure I would be able to top last year's successful run with BatfXXX,” director Steele said. “That was before I saw Dylan Ryder slide into the suit. She brought the character to life with her incredible sexual energy and her amazing acting ability. I feel confident that our fans will not be disappointed. It’s an honor to work with such a talented cast of this quality and this may be the best thing we've done to date.”

In this sextacular spectacle Bluebird Films owner and producer Paul Chaplin reprises his role as The Jo-Kerr, co-starring with Glambirds Anna Lovato, Natasha Marley and Lady Gemma Massey who appears in her first feature role as Jokette, the villain’s insane inamorata.

“It’s any actor’s dream to play this role; it’s at once a game and a challenge, both aspects of which I enjoy,” Chaplin said. “And who knew being evil was so much fun?”

The cast also includes Kagney Linn Karter, Andy San Dimas, Jennifer Dark, Bridgette B., Lexi Swallow, Evan Stone, Mr. Pete and Dale Dabone.

The glossy, big-budget feature is packed with action—chases, fights, explosions and special effects.

"It was an honor to be cast in the work of adult's greatest feature director Nicholas Steele and to work with the amazing Paul Chaplin in this collaboration,” Ryder said. “I feel so blessed to play Katwoman and to have worked with the finest talent in the business from beautiful Kagney Linn Karter to the incomparable Gemma Massey."

Everyone’s invited to the Oct. 1 premiere for a first look at KatwomanXXX . This extravaganza event will be hosted by Ryder at the Hustler Club Las Vegas, located at 6607 Dean Martin Drive. The red carpet begins at 9 p.m. and the movie will play on the club’s multiple screens all night long.

Dressed in the skin tight Katsuit, Dylan will make an eye-popping grand entrance in “The Vault,” an unbelievable stretch, armored vehicle courtesy of 24/7 Las Vegas Limousine Service.

Then the pretty kitty will kick off the evening with an erotic dance on the club’s catwalk before introducing live bands Feral Vinca and GanG BanG to rock the night away. Kitty treats include a vodka bar featuring KatwomanXXX Limited Edition Vodka in a unique machine gun shaped bottle from 222 Signature Management, Katwoman-themed cupcakes from Retro Bakery and Radioactive Energy Drink to keep the party going.

The Hustler retail area is allowing customers to purchase the KatwomanXXX DVD at a 50 percent discount to anyone who buys a Hustler product, and Ryder will be available for autographs and photo ops throughout the evening at the rooftop party.

Facebook Issues Fix for Problematic Tracking Cookies

Facebook Issues Fix for Problematic Tracking Cookies

CYBERSPACE—If you’ve ever had the feeling that Facebook was following you even when you weren’t logged on, the news, first reported Sunday, that FB tracking cookies were in fact keeping track of browsing activity even after users logged off the social network was a validation that probably came with a sick sensation in the pit of your stomach. That was certainly the reaction among federal lawmakers, a few of whom have asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the matter.

Today, however, Facebook announced that it had issued a fix for the problem, which it insisted never posed a privacy issue for its members. Nik Cubrilovic, the Australian blogger who first issued the alert regarding the cookies, also has weighed in on the fix after reportedly working with Facebook engineers to help identify the most problematic cookie, which is now “destroyed on logout.”

The initial warning on Sunday by Cubrilvic was alarming, to say the least. “Even if you are logged out,” he wrote, “Facebook still knows and can track every page you visit. The only solution is to delete every Facebook cookie in your browser, or to use a separate browser for Facebook interactions.”

A Facebook engineer dissented right away, saying FB “cookies aren’t used for tracking,” but after working with Cubrilovic the company admitted that several cookies were saving user data following logout, though as of Tuesday stood by its claim that no identifying data was ever saved. The issue had to do with a timestamp included in the cookies.

"What interested me was that not only was the timestamp accurate to milliseconds (ie. thousandths of a second) but that an additional number was being added to it," wrote Cubrilovic. “My gut instinct was that the additional number ... was being added to make the timestamp unique for each and every request. Facebook confirmed this. I understand the technical reason for that—they can store the timestamp as a primary key in their logging backend and not have to associate benchmarking of each request back to a user. I believe Facebook here when they say that although this is a unique identifier it isn't used to link back to a user id—but it is definitely being logged and it can be linked to a user."

In an updated post, however, Cubrilovic says that the cookie he was most concerned about because it contained the users’ ID, is now destroyed on logout. Despite the fix, he says that caution on the part of surfers is still warranted.

“Facebook has changed as much as they can change with the logout issue,” wrote Cubrilovic. “They want to retain the ability to track browsers after logout for safety and spam purposes, and they want to be able to log page requests for performance reasons, etc. I would still recommend that users clear cookies or use a separate browser, though. I believe Facebook when they describe what these cookies are used for, but that is not a reason to be complacent on privacy issues and [not] to take initiative in remaining safe.”

It remains to be seen whether the peeved lawmakers have been mollified following the Facebook fix, or whether the perceived lackadaisical attitude by FB toward user privacy will prompt them to use this incident as an excuse to turn the tables on the social network monolith by forcing them to eat some very special (and intrusive) federal cookies, courtesy of the FTC.

‘Wet Dream on Elm Street’ Out on DVD Tomorrow

Posted Sep 28th, 2011 05:27 PM

VAN NUYS, Calif.—Tom Byron Pictures brings award-winning director Lee Roy Myers’ A Wet Dream on Elm Street to stores nationwide tomorrow. The X-rated horror-comedy has already taken on a life of its own, with the SFW trailer going viral on mainstream movie sites, blogs and social networking sites around the web.

To help meet consumer demand for this red-hot spoof of Wes Craven’s horror classic, Tom Byron Pictures is offering double-sided display posters to retailers upon request. These collectible posters give stores the option to display hard or soft artwork to entice customers.

To see media coverage, behind-the-scenes photos, the SFW trailer, and more, visit the website for the movie here.

A Wet Dream on Elm Street stars Anthony Rosano in the iconic role of the maniac Freddy Krueger, opposite Jennifer White, Sophie Dee, Gracie Glam, Charley Chase and Giselle Leon.

The strong advance buzz on the movie began with exclusive coverage on the popular horror website Dread Central, and has since spread to all corners of the web with writeups on FEARNet, FilmDrunk, KillerFilm, BuzzFeed and many other highly trafficked mainstream sites.

A Wet Dream on Elm Street puts an irresistible goofy twist on the popular slasher film series. When the inhabitants of Elm Street are overcharged for sex toys by their local dealer, Freddy, they decide to retaliate by burning him and his dildos down. However, as every horror and porn fan knows, sometimes they come back.

“Horror and sex go together perfectly,” Myers said. “Both get hearts racing, though with different outcomes. Mix in some humor, and we have sexy, scary and hysterical parodies true fans can enjoy.”

Man Sues Canada for $100M Over Shattered Porn Dreams

Man Sues Canada for $100M Over Shattered Porn Dreams

TORONTO—How Canada sleeps at night is anyone’s guess. The great nation to our north is in the news for having dashed the dreams of one Tony Marcu, a dual citizen of Canada and Romania who is suing the former for $100 million for undermining his plan to become a wealthy pornographer. You read that correctly.

According to the Toronto Sun, “The Great Canadian Male star wanted to take his talents to Europe and make it big. Instead, the unemployed porn actor is back in Toronto, collecting welfare and living in a rooming house, and he blames the [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] for their 10-month delay in issuing him the police clearance he needed to open his adult film business in Romania.”

Apparently, in order to incorporate a business in Romania, a background check is required. In Marcu’s case, that meant two background checks, one for each country. He began the process while living in Romania with his wife and son, where he decided that his job as a bank manager was keeping him from his true destiny as a porn mogul.

“His Romanian police clearance took two days,” reported the Sun. “The RCMP website warned their wait time was 12 weeks and outlined the steps necessary—all of which Marcu says he followed.”

Instead of three months, however, the RCMP took shy of a year to process, during which time Marcu was unable to start his business and going through his savings like a drunken sailor in a strange port. Marcu had planned to open an “e-commerce-based company that imports sex health products from Canada, sex toys and ice wine, along with the production of adult films, sales and erotic massage services,” but by the time the clearance came through it was too late; the window of opportunity had closed for good.

“It’s too much,” he said. “You’re losing customers, you miss the business opportunity, you lose the potential profit.”

He returned to Toronto, a bitter man with a score to settle. “He now spends his days at the local library,” said the Sun, “using the computer to search for acting parts in the local adult film industry.”

And waiting for the millions owed him.

SugarDVD Launches Stream-to-TV Boxee App

Posted Sep 28th, 2011 02:49 PM

LOS ANGELES—SugarDVD.com is now offering their new unlimited stream to TV service through Boxee. Boxee, like Roku, is a set-top box that allows users to stream movies from the Internet to a TV. In addition to streaming movies, SugarDVD customers can use the Boxee's built in web browser to update their DVD rental lineups as well as buy new DVDs.

The SugarDVD app is the first of its kind on Boxee to offer hundreds of full-length adult movies for unlimited streaming. The app displays movies in a grid view, allowing users to sort by genres including Couples, MILF and Amateur. Over a hundred movies were added in August from several new studios, including Lethal Hardcore and Candy Shop. The app can be set up by going to sugardvd.com/boxee and following a few simple steps.

The new unlimited stream to TV service debuted in May with the release of a Sugar Roku channel. With Netflix focusing their attention on streaming, it makes a lot of sense to add unlimited TV streaming from a company known as the “Adult Netflix.”

"Our Roku and Boxee TV streaming is in line with what customers now expect and look for when they go to SugarDVD.com," said spokesperson Rebecca Bolen.

The service is currently included with all DVD rental plans at no additional cost. For $9.95 a month, a customer can stream as many movies as they want, as often as they want, and rent one DVD by mail at a time. A 10-day free trial is currently available for new customers.

SugarDVD gave away a Roku every week during the month of September as part of their Roku Summer Giveaway contest, and continue their promotion in October by giving away Boxees to Twitter followers.

"Adding Boxee gives us another growing platform to stream from,” said Sugar's content manager Justin Brand. “Let's face it, what's cooler than instantly beaming adult movies onto your big screen?”

MiM: Only 13 Months Left to Support Censorship!

Only 13 Months Left to Support Censorship!

JESUSLAND—Now we know why Morality in Media (MiM) has been so hot recently to get its sticky little hands on your bucks: It's time to browbeat the announced presidential candidates into promising to reactivate the U.S. Justice Department's Obscenity Prosecution Task Force (or something like it) to dance on the heads of those lousy pornographers!

"We want assurances that the next President will agree to make the prosecution of illegal hardcore pornography a priority of the U.S. Department of Justice," declared MiM president Patrick Trueman. "Only then will the harm begin to subside."

What "harm," you may ask? Just the same crap they've been pushing for the past couple of years since Trueman inaugurated his "war on illegal pornography" at PornHarms.com.

"According to peer-reviewed research and many, many personal accounts, harm from adult pornography is at pandemic levels," an MiM press release trumpets. "Exposure to pornography is leading to addiction among many children and adults, and is a significant cause of broken marriages and the sexual exploitation of children and women. Pornography is linked to increased demand of sexual trafficking and its role as a gateway to child pornography is a major reason why child pornographers are increasing at unprecedented levels, according to new studies."

Of course, MiM's "peer-reviewed research" mostly isn't peer-reviewed, or if it is, it usually deals only peripherally with the effects of using sexually explicit materials. And as far as "personal accounts," it's best to bear in mind Roger Brinner's famous adage, "The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'." In other words, no matter how many people claim to have experienced harm from using porn or in some other way being exposed to it, until those claims have been subjected to scientific scrutiny, they're just that: Claims.

And as for porn being "linked" to "increased demand of sexual trafficking," perhaps MiM is unaware that for all adult industry movies being produced today, performers are required to produce government-issued photo IDs, thus pretty much guaranteeing that those performers aren't "trafficked." and as for adult porn being "a gateway to child pornography," actual peer-reviewed studies have shown that those interested in child porn have virtually no interest in adult porn; they just can't get off on it.

The MiM press release claims that it was because of the obscenity prosecutions of the Reagan/Bush years that "[t]he porn industry stopped producing violent-themed pornography such as rape films, as well as themes involving children." Yeah! It wasn't because adult producers saw that few people wanted to buy the (very few) fake "rape videos" that had been marketed, that stores didn't want to carry them, and that after decades of being forced to produce their movies "underground," producers were able to see the light of day and operate their businesses above-ground, becoming more socially aware in the process! And of course, the legitimate adult industry has never knowingly produced child porn, which has been illegal since well before Ed Meese convened his anti-porn commission.

Sadly, that hasn't stopped Trueman from claiming, in an email sent today to his constituents, that when he was in the Justice Department's obscenity unit, he A) never lost a case, and B) "As a result, much of the hardcore pornography available disappeared—at the time it was rape and child-themed pornography." That's horseshit, Pat, and you know it.

"In recent years, however, all prosecution of the existing obscenity laws has stopped," the MiM press release continues, "essentially giving pornographers a free pass to produce as much of the hardest types of pornography possible. As a result of not enforcing the law, hardcore pornography has now become the majority of available porn and individuals are suffering from a plethora of harms."

Um, Pat? When a guy sticks his cock into a pussy or ass (female or male), when a guy or gal sucks a cock or a pussy, that's "hardcore pornography," and that hasn't changed in all the years that movies have been shot and photographs taken. It really doesn't get "harder" than that. And yes, that's different from what Playboy shows in its magazines and on its cable channels (along with Cinemax and Showtime and all the other networks that carry sexy material), but it always has been. Admittedly, porn—hard and soft—has kept up with the times, in the sense that, for example, "men's magazines" for a long time would only show bare breasts in profile, and only began showing pubic hair in the '70s, while movie porn has become more inventive and acrobatic over the years—but that's because it's what the public wants, and if the public didn't want it, it wouldn't be produced.

Of course, Morality in Media makes its money by ignoring the above-noted facts, and expects to make even more if a fundamentalist Republicans is elected president, and his/her comrades get to fill House and Senate seats—recall that Congress stopped funding MiM's sister organization, ObscenityCrimes.org, several years ago—so obviously, the group is staking an early claim to this election's sexual morality gutter.

To that end, MiM wants all of its "fellow travelers" to ask the seven current major Republican candidates and the Democratic incumbent the following:

"Will you agree to vigorously prosecute illegal adult pornography if elected president? Federal obscenity laws prohibit distribution of hardcore 'obscene' pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops, through the mail, and by common carrier. Pornography is causing great harm to America. It is causing addiction to children and adults and increasing violence against women. It is a contributing factor to sexual trafficking and causing an increase in child pornography. It is a leading cause of divorce and harming many marriages. Please tell me your position. Will you order your Attorney General to make adult obscenity prosecutions a priority?"

Frankly, we can't imagine that any of them will answer "No"—but then again, who in his/her right mind would take any of these candidates' campaign promises seriously?

Evil Angel Streets John Leslie's Last Scenes, Bonus Tribute

Posted Sep 27th, 2011 09:54 AM

VAN NUYS, Calif.—When X-rated film legend John Leslie died in 2010, the adult entertainment industry not only lost one of the few truly great actor-directors of its Golden Age, but also one of its most irreplaceable and unforgettable personalities. On Sept. 28, Evil Angel is releasing the final scenes directed by John Leslie in an essential collector’s package titled What the Fuck! Big Tits, Bitches and Ass: I Must Be in Heaven.

With an eye-popping female cast led by the gorgeous Chanel Preston, the deluxe 2-DVD set boasts a cameo appearance by Leslie himself, and a bonus disc packed with more than 400 rare photographs along with tributes to Leslie from his friends and peers, including fellow Evil Angel auteurs John Stagliano, Joey Silvera, Rocco Siffredi and Christoph Clark.

“Instead of the usual four scenes, John’s wife, Kathleen, decided to use all six in one movie to give his fans a special farewell,” said Christian S. Mann, Evil Angel general manager. “The addition of a ‘John Leslie Tribute’ bonus disc, will give his fans insight into John Leslie, the man. It includes a retrospective of John’s life, career, art and music in pictures and video footage.

“John Leslie was an accomplished director to be sure, but he was so much more than that,” Mann continued. “He was an actor, painter, musician, chef, raconteur, friend and husband… and he excelled at all of these. My experience working with him the last two years revealed him to be an irascible perfectionist who didn’t mince words. He called it as he saw it, so we knew if he was pissed, but we also knew that when he ended a conversation with a compliment, that he meant it. Like a true bluesman, John spoke from the heart.”

Leslie’s cameo as The Voyeur is featured in a torrid scene with Katie Jordin, Sheena Ryder, and Rocco Reed. Fans will also thrill to scenes featuring Tasha Reign and Jenna Presley with Mark Ashley; Chanel Preston and Christian; Candy Manson and Bill Bailey; Jada Stevens with Toni Ribas and Mark Wood; and Ally Kay with Bruce Venture.

The tribute bonus disc also includes clips from John Leslie’s last four acting performances, director and Leslie disciple Kevin Moore’s tribute from the 2010 Los Angeles memorial service, and music from the John Leslie Blues Band.

No less an authority than Leslie’s longtime friend Joey Silvera proclaimed the collection “EPIC! A collector’s item, and the last work of a genius!”

What the Fuck! Big Tits, Bitches and Ass: I Must Be in Heaven arrives in stores this Wednesday.

Australian Sex Party Tackles Booze, Cigs at Point of Sale

Australian Sex Party Tackles Booze, Cigs at Point of Sale

AUSTRALIA—The issues embraced by the Australian Sex Party are certainly not limited to sex. In previous announcements as well as on its website, the first and only political party of its kind has staked out strong positions on drugs, euthanasia, health, religion, education and other issues of import to Australians. Now it is weighing in on alcohol and cigarettes—in particular, the point of purchase sale of these adults-only items.

This weekend Robbie Swan, the Party’s public officer, sent out an announcement in support of historian and columnist Dr. Ross Fitzgerald, who has written a recent column in the Australian arguing that “cigarettes and alcohol should be taken out of supermarkets and convenience stores and put into adults only, age-restricted premises.”

In his column, titled “Cigarettes and cereal just don’t mix,” Fitzgerald argues that instead of trying to battle the tobacco companies by going after their copyrights, which is what Health Minister Nicola Roxon is currently doing, she should instead attack them at the point of purchase.

“If Roxon were serious about bringing smoking rates down she would not bother tinkering with side issues such as packaging,” wrote Fitzgerald. “She'd remove cigarette sales from the main retail outlets and smoking rates would drop overnight.”

As mentioned, Fitzgerald is not saying that the sale of cigarettes should be banned outright, but that the place of their sales should shift from grocery stores and other similar retail shops to adults-only premises such as pubs, taverns, nightclubs, adult sex shops and tobacconists and herbal suppliers, of which there are about 10,000 such outlets throughout the continent.

He makes the exact same argument with respect to alcohol sales, with the added incentive that limiting their 24/7 availability might work to curtail community and domestic violence, which he believes shares a correlation with the easy access of alcohol. He also argues, with respect to both products, that removing from the view of children the physical exchange of money for booze or cigarettes will also help break the generational acceptability that each now enjoys.

One obstacle to following through on the idea, says Fitzgerald, is the politics of money. “Both the Coalition and Labor's policies on the sale of alcohol and tobacco are partisan and self-interested,” wrote Fitzgerald. “Neither government nor opposition wants to lose the enormous tax revenues involved. Health Minister Nicola Roxon puffs her chest out and roars at the tobacco companies, holding up a generic cigarette packet like a crucifix. This is mere political posturing.”

Not for the Australian Sex Party, it isn’t. In his email, Swan posed the following questions. “What do Australia’s major public health agencies think about this approach,’ he asked. “What arguments could be advanced against his proposal and who would advance them?

“The AMA, the Cancer Council, the Public Health Association, QUIT and other agencies should be commenting on the proposal,” he further suggested, adding, “The Australian Sex Party supports Fitzgerald's proposals around tobacco sales and some aspects of those around alcohol.”

It is an interesting position to take for a group that has argued so strenuously against the proposal by the Australian government to limit the availability of sexual content on the internet, including allowing the filtering of content at the ISP level. But in fairness, the proposal does not seek to eliminate products, but simply limit their accessibility to places frequented by children.

In the United States, of course, the availability of cigarettes is ubiquitous; it’s the right to smoke them that is being continuously encroached upon by Big Brothers at the local, state and federal level, all in the name of health. Alcohol is seeing a similar level of control, increasingly at sporting events, where its sale is curtailed, but more aggressively at gentlemen’s clubs around the country, where it is increasingly prohibited altogether, courtesy of the moral police who need mean to wipe these establishments off the face of the earth by means that circumvent the First Amendment, in this case employing secondary-effects arguments that limit hours of operation, and the distance between patron and performer.

Naughty America Goes Back-to-School with ‘Greek Week’

Posted Sep 26th, 2011 05:56 PM

SAN DIEGO—No matter where you end up in life, there was always “that one time in college.” Naughty America salutes the experimental side in all of us with Greek Week, featuring a five-scene series about the “back to school” activities at the classic Naughty America Fraternity, KOK.

The series follows a group of fraternity brothers as they compete to win the annual scavenger hunt; only their healthy sportsmanship turns to “stiff” competition as the checkmarks fly.

“There’s always an increased sense of community among our members when we give them a themed week or an exciting series with an intertwined storyline,” said Naughty America CEO Eddie Arenas. “It gives an added value to the entertainment.”

“I monitor the member forums daily, and after the success of MILF week (which will make an appearance again this year) and Busty Blonde Week, members suggested a ‘back to school week,’” added Marketing Manager Jennifer L. “We wanted to offer something beyond a week of classroom-scenes; something different that they weren’t expecting. That’s how the fraternity-themed series was born.”

The series, which brings back the KOK Fraternity made famous by the classic Fast-Times scenes at Naughty America, stars some of the industry’s biggest names, as well as hot new up-and-comers. Expect to see host of Playboy Radio’s Night Calls’ Nicki Hunter, Slovakian bombshell Diana Doll and AVN Award-winner Gracie Glam.

Aside from the obvious hot action, the series is comedic, and anyone who has attended college or has seen a college movie can relate to it. Visit NaughtyAmerica.com daily during the week of Sept. 26-30 to see the twists, turns, and the newly added Naughty America Sorority, TYTS.

Bruno Gmunder Publishes JC Adams’ ‘Gay Porn Heroes’

BERLIN—German publishing house Bruno Gmunder has released Gay Porn Heroes, a coffee-table photo book arranged and written by JC Adams, a longtime adult industry columnist and filmmaker.

The book is a tribute to the amazing men who, across four decades, have fired our erotic imagination and stoked debate about what it means to be an erotic male icon. From Al Parker to Brent Corrigan, Jeff Stryker to Matthew Rush, Lukas Ridgeston to Pierre Fitch, these are the porn stars who make our knees go wobbly.

Gay Porn Heroes celebrates 100 iconic men who rose above the pack have inspired us for over four decades,” said Adams, founder/editor of GayPornTimes.com. “From early icons Casey Donovan and Fred Halsted, to current skin flick studs like Reese Rideout and Chris Rockway, they remain constant. They soothe and provoke, flirt, irritate and tease. They are the models, the actors, and the fuel for our fantasy. No matter how dramatically the world changes, we always have a need for heroes.”

The stars are arranged in ten categories, including The Bodybuilders, The Macho Men, The Boys Next Door, The Superhung and The European Fantasy.

Wicked's 'Horizon' Screening Draws Mainstream Celebs

Posted Sep 26th, 2011 03:56 PM

LOS ANGELES—The entertainment communities from both sides of the Hollywood Hills converged last Wednesday night when Wicked Pictures hosted a theatrical screening of Horizon, director Sam Hain’s big-budget science-fiction epic, at the Landmark Theater in West Los Angeles.

From mainstream celebrities such as Anthony Fitzgerald (Scrubs, ChromeSkull: Laid To Rest 2) to iconic comic legend Tommy Chong (who happily granted interviews to the adult press with Horizon co-star Misty Stone on his arm), the posh affair was attended by nearly all of the film’s primary cast and crew, including Wicked Pictures owner and president Steve Orenstein, director Hain, producer Lee Roy Myers, and stars Jessica Drake, Kaylani Lei, Alektra Blue, Kimberly Kane, Rocco Reed and Bill Bailey.

The evening began with a cocktail reception during which the cast mingled with such adult industry talent as Chanel Preston, Isis Taylor, Tommy Gunn, Katie Kinns, Brad Armstrong, Marcus London, Lucy Vonne, Craig Melone, Girls & Corpses magazine founder Robert Rhine, Burning Angel Entertainment’s Brian Street Team and many more. After the reception, guests were invited into one of the Landmark’s largest screening rooms to enjoy the first public screening of Horizon.

Coming hot on the heels of Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, Hain’s special-effects-laden space adventure is the first adult film to be shot with the Red Epic camera system, the same revolutionary technology first used to create Soderbergh’s mainstream film. And thanks in part to the Landmark’s state-of-the-art projection system, history was made as Horizon became the first adult film to be screened theatrically in 2K.

After the screening, Hain and his cast gathered before the throng of mainstream and adult press in attendance for a Q&A session and more group photos.

The glamorous evening proved to be an ideal launch platform for the interstellar adventure. Director Hain is continuing the promotional juggernaut, discussing the film on the popular internet radio program The Creedence And Bishop Show this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. PST / 6:30 p.m. ET.

The movie doesn't arrive in stores until this Friday, Sept. 30, but fans can watch a three-minute clip on Wicked's official YouTube page.

Command Cinema Classic October Silk Cums to HotMovies.com

Posted Sep 26th, 2011 03:40 PM

PHILADELPHIAHotMovies.com announced today the release of its eighth exclusive classic from the famed but nearly impossible to find Command Cinema library. October Silk will premiere on the popular VOD site just in time for the month for which it was named.

Once again, legendary producer/director Cecil Howard has agreed with HotMovies to screen the film in Pay Per Minute and streaming rental formats for an exclusive one-month run. Like most of Howard's highly regarded movies from the 1980s, October Silk has never seen a DVD release so those without a rare VHS or Beta copy will finally have the chance to view it, but only during the month of October.

"Howard's movies are all special," said HotMovies director of business development James Cybert. "They all have the right mix of plotting and eroticism, just enough lead-in to get the audience invested for the good stuff. What we really liked about this one is the amazing lineup of ten golden age starlets at their absolute hottest."

Featuring a gorgeous cast of '80s talent headlined by Abigail Clayton, Candida Royalle, Howard favorite Samantha Fox, and redhead bombshell Lisa DeLeeuw, the movie took home Hustler's prize for Film of the Year in 1981 and was also voted as the top movie of the year by the magazine's fans and the NY Critics Group.

Gloria Leonard, Arcadia Lake, Merle Michaels, Christine de Schaeffer, Christie Ford and Tara Smith round out the gorgeous cast of workers and guests at the naughty boutique that serves as the main setting in the film, which was produced by Howard and directed by late porn legend Henri Pachard.

Premiering originally in 1981, Silk shows off the duo's eye for the naughty niche. Secretary sex? Check. Naughty nurse? Check. Dominatrix? Check. Cheerleaders? You bet. Not to mention a climax worthy of the term as one man gets all he can handle for the trio of voluptuous vixens.

The movie, said Howard, came about because of the success of another movie you will find exclusively on HotMovies.com.

"I was having lunch with Henri Pachard one day and we decided for kicks to team up and make a movie together," Howard explained. "The result was the famous, award-winning Babylon Pink. Because of the humongous success we had with that, we decided to go at it one more time."

Additional HotMovies exclusives from Command Cinema include Dangerous Stuff, Neon Nights, Platinum Paradise, Scoundrels, Star Angel, The Last X-Rated Movie and Foxtrot.

The HotMovies studio team can be reached at 1-800-611-MOVIE.
