Cybersocket’s Big Gay Site of the Month: ViscontiTriplets.com

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

Joey, Jimmy and Jason—better known as the Visconti Triplets—are fast becoming the porn industry’s new “it boys.” If you haven’t heard of them yet, you will soon! These identical triplet brothers from Hungary have taken the gay porn world by storm. Although they appear in scenes together, they don’t actually have sex with one another. Sorry guys. But then again, never say never!

The triplets are all 6 feet tall and they each clock in at a lean 197 pounds. They are visually identical—right down to those precious inches that count the most (7.5 by 5.5 inches in their case). Just because they look alike, however, doesn’t mean they all have the same interests. Joey is a shy college student and was actually still a virgin on his first shoot. He enjoys snowboarding and skateboarding when he’s not burning up the screen. Jason, the alpha male of the trio, spends his spare time pumping iron at the gym or riding his motorcycle.
Whether they’re standing shoulder-to-shoulder as they fuck three guys or just posing for sensuous photos together, you’re bound to be mesmerized as they flirt with the taboo.

On the Set of Third Degree Films’ ‘Nylons 6′

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.—Sadie West is standing in the spacious foyer of a luxury home deep in Porn Valley wearing only black lingerie and heels. She is the star of this morning’s scene for Third Degree’s sixth edition of Miles Long’s Nylons series.

Long is sitting on the floor with his digital camera about 10 feet away from West, directing her movements.
“Wowsers, yes, yes. Stay there. Don’t move. That’s wonderful,” he says. “I think we have a box cover in there.”
There is light jazz music playing on the small set. Long’s production assistant Jimmy and makeup artist are the only other people in the home when I arrive about 11.

After Long gets his shot, West steps outside onto the back patio for a smoke.

She tells me that Long has directed her before—early on in her career, which started about a year and a half ago. She says she recently signed on with agent Mark Spiegler after her exclusive contract with New Sensations ended.

“I feel like he truly has my best interest in mind,” she says. “It was cool to experience the contract thing.”

West, a contender for AVN’s Best New Starlet award in January, tells me she has about 50 scenes on her résumé. The 21-year-old says that “life is a journey” and that she is doing “what I want to do.”

“I’m not going to stop my hustle,” she adds.

A few minutes later, Mr. Pete rolls into the driveway in a white luxury sedan with rims. Once inside, he greets West warmly.

“What’s up? We meet again,” she says to him as they hug.

Jimmy offers Mr. Pete an Egg McMuffin, and he replies, “Thanks, I just ate fast food.”

Long decides that he wants to shoot the sex scene right on the circular stairwell that provided the background for the still photo shoot.

He tells me the scenes in this movie are more than just a girl wearing sexy nylons.

“I try to match the girl with the outfit,” he says. “And a lot of the focus is on the nylons during the sex. I look for girls with a nice butt and long legs because you can’t focus on the nylons without that.”

As Long makes final lighting adjustments and checks his equipment, West starts blowing Pete in the living room to get him ready for the scene. The fluff is an unexpected perk for the 29-year-old veteran, but West gets into her job.

Forty minutes later the two are fucking even when the camera isn’t rolling.

“I can always tell when it’s a good scene when the talent forgets that they’re on a set,” Long remarks.

Nylons 6 is available now from Third Degree.

Premiere Sales Group: Laughing at Your Recession

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

After 10 years in the distribution game, Premiere Sales Group is still whistling all the way to the bank

SANTA CLARITA, Calif.—When everyone else is crying into their vag-etable soup about rapidly declining returns in the adult industry, distributor Premiere Sales Group, which chalked off its 10th anniversary in October, is not only whistling merrily all the way to the bank, but celebrated the occasion by adding another 10,000 square feet to its already sprawling warehouse.

“Now we’re sitting in a 30,000-square-foot warehouse, and we carry everything that’s available in the market,” managing partner Keith Repult beamed to AVN. “We had the close of two or three distributors last year, which led to our growth, and we capitalized on it. My opinion was, where everybody was cutting back on stock and crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s, we expanded our stock and made it readily available when customers called so we could have same-day shipping, we could have the answers, we could supply anything. So we are sitting on a very large stock and turning it weekly.”

A dicey battle plan, some might say, in this tentative fiscal age. But to hear Repult tell it, there’s no other way to stay in (let alone ahead of) the game.

“I know personally as a shopper, because I love to go to Target or Best Buy or Blockbuster, I notice that some stores don’t have the product when I go in, and that’s the worst thing that can happen in my opinion, because then you don’t go back,” he explained. “I think that as long as it’s selling, stock it! That’s my motto: Have it on the shelf.”

Not that Repult has gone totally unaffected by the economy’s current doldrums.

“Now I actually have to work,” he joked. “Ten years ago, I could just lie back and take orders. Now I have to actually get on the phone and call somebody. And I do see that a lot of store owners are actually working their cash register and actually answering their phones; they’re actually doing the work themselves. They say profits are up, but they had to scale back on employees. So I mean, that’s about the difference ... I have to actually dial for dollars more now.”

Premiere is reaching out in other ways, as well—the company has been running a tear-out survey in these pages asking retailers for their take on what sells and what they value in a distributor. And as an incentive for buyers to send it in, they are offered a voucher upon doing so for 50 free DVDs with their first Premiere order.

“It seems to be doing really well,” Repult said. “People are mailing it in and we’re learning as we go. We thought as long as we stay open-minded and not closed-minded, we’re never too late to learn something new.”

That sense of modesty might very well be as responsible as anything else for Premiere’s continued growth.

“We’re normal Joes at Premiere,” Repult contended. “No matter what kind of money we’re making, we’ve always felt that we’re not better than anybody, and we are who we are because of our customers, and we have to answer to them. We’ve always kept our customers because we have offered things at Premiere that other distributors hadn’t offered. We guarantee our products that we sell to the retail stores forever. If you’re buying from us on a regular basis and you have a problem with your product, we take it back. And we’ve always kept the motto ‘The customer’s always right.’

“I’m happy with the way things are today,” he summed up. “I just try to stay in today and figure out what tomorrow will be tomorrow.”

An External Affair With Emotional Bliss

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

While most vibrator manufacturers focused on internal stimulation, Emotional Bliss hit the spot with a female-friendly approach to personal massagers

Despite being a relative newcomer in the pleasure product industry, Emotional Bliss has built a strong reputation with its small but high-quality array of massagers. Based in England, the company is known for its Heat Range line, which includes the Womolia and the Femblossom—both curved items that heat up with the touch of a button.

Paul Telford, managing director and founder of Emotional Bliss, first researched the sex toy market back in 1999. He quickly discovered that the market appeared to be dominated by men, who were busily creating, designing and marketing products that were used mostly by women. This inspired him to join forces with registered British sexologist Julia Cole to design and produce a female-friendly range of external personal massagers.

Samples in hand, Paul Telford arranged to meet with Professor Alan Riley of Lancashire University to discuss the quality and functionality of the prototypes.

“Professor Riley provided valuable insight,” explained Nina Saini, international public relations manager for Emotional Bliss. “He identified that there was no industry standard in regard to the quality of materials used, and that most of the products available on the market focused on internal stimulation. He told Paul that it had been recently proven that the female body’s anatomical structure to stimulate orgasms was external and not internal.”

Riley noted that the accepted school of thought had been that women had three nerve endings: the clitoris, the G-spot and the anus. The reality, however, is that women have thousands of nerve endings from the clitoris to the anus.

Telford quickly saw an opportunity to create a medical-grade product that focused on external stimulation and could be marketed to women as a health product rather than an adult novelty.

Pre-production on the Emotional Bliss range began in February 2003. Most of the initial production run was sent to psychosexual therapists and members of the British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy for feedback and testing.

The original products were equipped with 45 individual vibrating functions so users could experiment and discover what level of vibration would be required to stimulate orgasm. Research soon showed the creators of Emotional Bliss that the perceived level of vibration required to stimulate orgasm was higher for women who were over 40.

Initially the project was focused on creating products to stimulate orgasm in all women—and it was presumed that the level of vibration advised by therapists to stimulate orgasm was 80Hz regardless of age. What became clear from the pre-production feedback was that the necessary level of vibration varied considerably when affected by other factors: the user’s lifestyle choices, such as smoking or drinking alcohol; medical ailments, such as diabetes or thyroid disorder; and menopause and natural aging processes.

“Based on the information received, we had to go back to the drawing board and redesign all the electronic components to achieve a level of vibration that would be sufficient to stimulate orgasm in all women regardless of age whilst also accommodating the younger women who would not require such a high level of stimulation,” Saini said. “The overall development to perfect the levels of vibration whilst focusing on reducing the noise and adding the heat element was to be the most challenging aspect of the overall project. It was far more complex than originally perceived.”

As the Emotional Bliss products have grown in popularity in the health market, the adult novelty industry itself developed and changed. A demand for higher-quality, female-oriented products has encouraged Emotional Bliss to introduce its collection into the adult market, where it is finding a new audience.

“The first products were the Womolia, the Femblossom, the Chandra, the Isis and the Jasmine,” Saini said. “All except the Jasmine are currently available. The Jasmine will be relaunched as part of the Heat Range early next year.”

Although the company originally focused on the more mature market, the Emotional Bliss products actually appeal to a wider age range. The Isis and Chandra have proven popular with the 18- to 30-year-old market, while the Womolia Heat and Femblossom Heat are preferred by an older demographic.

“We wanted to create the Emotional Bliss experience through providing a range of high-quality products at affordable prices,” Saini said. “We believe we have made something unique, and although the initial focus was purely on women in the 40-plus age group we are delighted our products are reaching a wider group of women.

The motivation behind Emotional Bliss sets us apart from our competitors; we are passionate and determined to continuously develop our products and to bring sexual pleasure for women.”

Not content to rest on their laurels, the principal players at Emotional Bliss are working hard on new packaging for the international market and will continue to develop material for different sales channels.

“We are expanding our international sales so the Emotional Bliss range will be available in new territories,” Saini said. “We are teaming up with experts in both the adult and mainstream markets.”

Adobe Uses Porn to Make Point About Flash-less iPad

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

Apple hits back that Adobe is playing the 'porn card' out of desperation

SAN JOSE, Calif.—A minor controversy is brewing over Apple’s decision not to Flash-enable the iPad, and pornography is front and center in the hissy fit. In this instance, however, the decision by Adobe to use a porn site to help make its larger point is not altogether inappropriate, even if some are calling it desperate.

The iPad, as everyone knows, was only just released, but even before Steve Jobs hit the stage to reveal his new baby’s charms, Adobe was crying foul. Wednesday, on the company’s Flash Platform blog, Adrian Ludwig wrote a post about what not having Flash will mean for people who purchase the iPad.

“If I want to use the iPad to connect to Disney, Hulu, Miniclip, Farmville, ESPN, Kongregate, or JibJab—not to mention the millions of other sites on the web,” he wrote, “I'll be out of luck.”

But that is not the only online content that people will not be able to receive. Thursday, Adobe’s platform evangelist Lee Brimelow posted to theflashblog.com a group of images illustrating the types of content that will not show up on the iPad. Conspicuous in the second row of screen grabs is one for noted porn producer Bang Bros, minus the goodies.

Friday, Wired’s Brian X. Chen wrote, “Though porn is certainly relevant to many people’s web experiences, that’s kind of a desperate move.” He then provided a link to a tweet by his friend, Matt Drance, Apple’s former iPhone evangelist that said, “Adobe has resorted to playing the porn card. It’s over.”

That is a very unfortunate comment coming from an Apple evangelist, even a former one. The company makes a fortune from the adult entertainment industry and consumers of its products. Adult content has taken to the iPhone like ducks to water. That one device is almost singularly responsible for revitalizing the mobile sector of the industry. And the iPad itself, Flash or no Flash, is already being touted as “The Latest in Porn Delivery.”

In an post by Steve Tomassetti on the TMR Zoo, “You can go to almost any major news site to find out what the Apple iPad can and cannot do…or still be confused as to whether it will have a camera or not. But what those sites will not answer is what everyone really wants to know: How can I view porn on the iPad?”

Tomassetti concludes that despite its apparent drawbacks—limited storage and lack of Flash—acceptable alternatives remain, illustrated by the fact that “Digital Playground has already announced that they will be providing iPad-optimized streaming on all of their company-owned websites such as digitalplayground.com and jessejane.com. Many other XXX sites provide mobile device-friendly streaming as well.”

So, while it is likely that Adobe sees the HTML5 writing on the wall, and is indeed “playing the porn card” in its determination to keep its product relevant, it is somewhat amusing to see all of the corporate evangelists rushing to denigrate the pertinence of adult content when they know full well that each and every one of their products has been supported—and improved—because of it.

Gay Erotica Site StickyPen.com Names Story of the Year

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—“The Massage Table,” a piece of erotic short fiction by the pseudonymous writer monkeyjunk, has been named 2009 Story of the Year at gay erotic fiction site StickyPen.com. The short story explores one man’s homosexual awakening as the result of a series of massage appointments.

The annual Story of the Year is chosen from among 12 finalists, one chosen each month from among the site’s weekly “best story” winners. Site administrator Clarke has the daunting task of selecting each story along the way.

“I ultimately choose the winner,” he explained. “But I make sure that choice is reflective of our community’s census. The comments and the ratings StickyPen employs are a large factor in my final decision.”

“The Massage Table” was a late entry for the 2009 contest, but Clarke said the story’s popularity among readers raised it above the competition.

“This story really resonated with our members,” Clarke said.

Texas Citizens Outraged Over Cucumber

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

Maybe it's a Darwin thing?

LANCASTER, Texas—There are a lot of religious folks in Texas, a fact which has given rise to such interesting developments as America's Dark Ages (2000-2008), Lawrence v. Texas and even attempts a couple of years ago to prosecute adult retailers who stock novelties and women who sell novelties on the home party circuit—until the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals pulled the rug out from under such cases by striking down laws against selling dildos, vibrators and other pleasure gadgets in the state with its ruling in Reliable Consultants v. Earle.

But with novelties' new-found legality comes the question of how best to advertise them, and the Sara's Secrets/Condoms To Go chain, which has 12 stores in the state, has come up with a couple of knee-slappers, including the pictured billboard on I-35 and the TV ad that gave rise to it.

"We ran that at the end of last year," explained Sara's Secret VP and Chief Counsel Gary Krupkin. "We try to make our advertising entertaining and edgy; those are the two words we keep in mind. Because anybody can watch a whole evening of TV and I bet that they cannot recall one commercial, so obviously you've got to do something that will stand out from the noise, and this commercial hits the spot, and the billboards are kind of a follow-up to it."

"What we want to do is create advertising that will stir people," he continued. "Whether they're stirred because they don't like the advertising or stirred because they find it really funny, this particular combination really hit the spot. Here in Texas, which is a pretty conservative state, the churchgoers certainly give us their opinion, but CBS-11 did a story on it last night, and if you go to the comments underneath it, you'll see that the positive comments are overwhelming compared to the negative ones. People have come to our website and commented, and we're getting more positive comments there too."

One of the news story commenters tellingly wrote, "Texas is number one in teen pregnancy and the number one State for teens with multiple children. We are ranked up there in obesity, too. Maybe we should have MORE conversations about vegetables?!"

Sara's Secret has taken that comment to heart.

"We're planning on coming out with more commercials that are going to be very, very creative," Krupkin told AVN. "We're doing a series of commercials right now, 'Sex in the Shower,'  in conjunction with Sportsheets."

The commercials, including another mildly risque one about the family washer, have been running on four or five local cable channels.

And as for the complaints about the cucumber billboard?

"We think there are some folks who are going to try to pressure the city to force us to take down the billboards," Krupkin said. "I don't know how the city is going to react; I haven't heard from them yet."

"What we'd really like to do is to get this up to Leno," he continued, "because he goes through newspapers and stuff and picks out funny ads all the time. This would be right in his wheelhouse."

The ad campaign is the creation of Dallas-based advertising firm Dieste.

Aussie?s Censors Ban Small Breasts and Female Orgasms

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

Refusal to classify films with small-breasted women has resulted in a sharp increase in breast size in Australian adult magazines

CANBERRA, Australia—Australia may have finally bitten off more than it can chew in the sexual censorship department.

According to a Jan. 27 post by Australian Sex Party convenor Fiona Patten, “Federal government censors are directing Customs officials to confiscate depictions of the female orgasm when it is accompanied with an ejaculation. The Classification Board is also starting to classify films that feature female ejaculation as Refused Classification rather than X. Films that show both male and female ejaculation have routinely been given an X rating since 1983. The new ruling follows a boom in the numbers of adult films featuring female ejaculation since the pioneering research of Professor Emeritus Beverly Whipple was published in her book The G Spot. Recent articles in the New Scientist and on Norman Swan’s Health Report on ABC radio have raised public awareness of this largely hitherto unknown aspects of female orgasm.”

The films, she says, are being refused classification on one of two grounds:

1) That the depictions are a form of urination which is banned under the label of ‘golden showers’ in the Classification Guidelines or

2) Female ejaculation is an ‘abhorrent’ depiction

“Female ejaculation has now been described in scientific literature as being as real as male ejaculation and women’s ejaculate is as different from urine, as men’s is,” Patten said. “All women ejaculate at orgasm, in the same way that all men do. In some women, the amount is very small and not distinguishable from normal vaginal lubrication however some women can and do ejaculate large quantities of fluid and under great pressure.”

The Classification Board also has started to ban depictions of small-breasted women in adult publications and films. The bans are in response to a campaign led by Kids Free 2 B Kids and promoted by Barnaby Joyce and Guy Barnett in Senate estimates [hearings that are broadcast online] late last year, said Patten, adding that mainstream companies such as Larry Flynt’s Hustler produce some of the publications that have been banned.

“We are starting to see depictions of women in their late 20s being banned because they have an A cup size,” Patten said. “It may be an unintended consequence of the Senator’s actions but they are largely responsible for the sharp increase in breast size in Australian adult magazines of late.”

As a result of these latest censorship trends, said Patten, “Australian culture was being dumbed down in the sexual department and…political leaders were actively propagating an increasingly narrow window of acceptable sexual acts and cultures.”

New appointees to the Classification Board and the Classification Review Board, she added, should undergo an elementary level of education in the latest scientific developments around sexuality “and some sort of biology course to bring them up to date with the broad range of acceptable adult sexuality and body types.”

An introductory course on George Orwell might serve some good, as well.

Hot House Backroom Adds New Feeds

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

SAN FRANCISCO—Hot House Entertainment has added premium video feeds from Studio 2000 and Stock Bar to its award-winning Backroom membership site.

Studio 2000’s feeds feature the company’s plotted outdoor epics populated by athletic, all-American men, including Adam Hart, DC Chandler and Sonny Markham. A new scene will appear in the Backroom each week, and all scenes will be archived for one year.

The Nude Male Dancers feed from the notorious Stock Bar in Montreal demonstrates why the bar has a worldwide reputation for hot Canadian beefcake. The four-hour feed changes daily to present the previous night’s performances.

“We rolled out a similar feed with Bel Ami a few years ago, and the response from our members was enormous,” Hot House President Steven Scarborough said. “I’m sure the surprise addition of these two new feeds will keep our members happily entertained for a long time.”

With the new additions, the Backroom will feature 44 video updates a month, positioning the site for both higher conversions and longer retention, Hot House Vice President and Creative Director Brent Smith said.

“While other sites offer one or two new scenes a week, the Backroom now offers five times more video updates than other studio sites,” Smith said. “All of this extra content is free to our members; we have not raised our membership prices a dime to pay for the feeds.

“We just feel that in today’s tough economy, it’s imperative to provide our members with a superlative offering they can’t find anywhere else,” he explained. “These new feeds go a long way to address that.”

Cybersocket’s Cyberstud of the Month: Parker London

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

Parker London has an incredible, muscular physique. The sleeve tattoos on his left shoulder help to give him a slightly dangerous, very masculine quality that has quickly made him a fan favorite at Next Door Male. The tattoos are hot, but it’s his big, thick cock that’s really been driving fans wild. There’s more here than just a hot bod and a beautiful face, however. London writes music and is an avid outdoorsman. When he’s not pursuing his porn career, having sex twice a day or pleasuring himself with a Fleshlight, this self-confessed sex addict is busy being a loving father. We recently caught up with London, and here’s what he had to say.

What drew you to porn?
I just had a complete urge for sexual exploration.

What traits attract?
Someone who’s funny, brilliant and athletic, with a great physique. As for turn-offs, they include bad hygiene, stupidity and bad health habits.

Something many folks don’t know?
I love writing music.

Where would you like to be in five years?
I’d like to have a great house, graduate [with a degree] in mechanical engineering, and be known for my music compositions.

Non-porn jobs you’ve done?
I’ve built custom cabinetry.

Ever jerked off at work/school?
Are you kidding? Yep.

Most unusual sex spot?
It was up against a church in the pouring rain. We just couldn’t wait to get home.

Any non-adult performance art?
I’m interested in modeling and music, for sure.

Any hobbies?
I like climbing, biking, camping, soccer and writing.

Mainstream celebs you find hot?
Megan Fox—and Brad Pitt during his Fight Club days.

Fave type of music?
I’m into indie, hip-hop and dance.

Any on-screen fantasies?
I want to have a massive orgy in a big room, trading off with 20 or so people. With no limits or restraints!

Did you always dream of being a porn star?
Yes—as soon as I realized just how consumed I was with sex.

Experience that affected you profoundly?
I had a son three years ago, and it was the best thing to ever happen to me. It really made me step up and begin to achieve some goals, in order to take care of him.

Life lessons from the past five years?
Set realistic goals and achieve them little by little—and then keep raising the bar.

On the Set of Girlfriends Films’ ‘Pin-Up Girls’

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News
Comments Off

LOS ANGELES—In an effort to answer the many requests of fans to produce a movie centered on a lingerie store, Girlfriends Films owner and director Dan O’Connell has created Pin-Up Girls, a series that revolves around the 1950s pornography trade through “girly magazines.” The pre-1950s-style house that is to be the backdrop for today’s performances has been masterfully furnished and outfitted with classic ’50s antiques and memorabilia. With such attention to detail, it’s hard to imagine it’s nearing 2010 right outside the door.

Minutes away from show time, Girlfriends Films contract girl RayVeness explains the underlying storyline by saying, “I’m playing the leading role of an entrepreneurial fashion model who recruits fellow models into the scheme of taking and selling sexy photographs for money.” O’Connell later joins the conversation by adding that it took him over a year to acquire all of the “period-perfect” furnishings, props, and costumes. His attention to detail in regard to this project is staggering, and is perfectly actualized on Victoria White and Ashlyn Rae, who look ideal in their respective undergarments.

As Victoria and Ashlyn take their positions on a wooden bed, Victoria begins by funneling Ashlyn’s perfect breasts into her mouth and spreading her legs open to take in a deep whiff of the aroma between her legs. Once the room is littered with bras, panties and girdles, the girls go down on each other with incredible results before rubbing their crotches together like crickets. “Wow, that was hot!” O’Connell later applauds, as he congratulates the girls on delivering one hell of a scene.

RayVeness and Avy Scott also do their part to continue the action as they enthusiastically master the art of lesbian seduction. When fully exposed, Avy loudly slurps around RayVeness’ curly muff and wedges the tip of her nipple in and out of RayVeness’ glossy hole. “I just can’t get enough of you,” Avy spurts as the room and O’Connell go wild.

With such attention to detail and the realistic lesbian sex that Girlfriends Films has become synonymous with, expect great things from this production. Even though the movie itself may be fashioned over a time long past, Pin-Up Girls is anything but old-fashioned.

This article originally ran in the January 2010 issue of AVN. Read Paul Fishbein's review of Pin-Up Girls here.

Internet Porn Filters Force Name Change on ‘The Beaver’

90-year-old magazine to renamed 'Canada's History'

WINNIPEG, ManitobaThe Beaver, Canada’s second oldest continuously published magazine, is getting a new name. Starting with the April issue, the bimonthly magazine on Canada’s history will now be called...Canada’s History. The change after 90 years of publishing to the almost painfully prosaic new title is being made because of declining readership and also because internet filters are stopping emails and newsletters sent by…The Beaver.

While it may seem an overreaction that the word “beaver” has become a forbidden term on the filter circuit, one can never overestimate the fear that resides in some parents’ minds. Nevertheless, the damage has been done and the solution is in place.

Interestingly, the name came into conflict with changing demographics, as well. According to Editor-in-Chief Mark Reid, the sexual connotation associated with the word “beaver” has also turned off young potential readers.

"Market research showed us that younger Canadians and women were very, very unlikely to ever buy a magazine called The Beaver no matter what it's about," Reid told Reuters, adding he has mixed feelings about the name change. "For whatever reasons, they are turned off by the name."

Whether Canada’s History gets their attention or not is another question. The circulation of the Winnipeg-based magazine, which is published by Canada's National History Society, has traditionally ranged between 45,000 and 50,000, not that bad for a magazine that was founded in 1920 as a publication of the Hudson's Bay Company, and targeted the fur trade.

Over the years, said Reid, as the fur trade in Canada diminished, the magazine’s editorial focus shifted toward a general history of Canada, and the association between the fur trade and Canada’s early history was increasingly lost as the country’s immigrant population increased.

Reid adds that readers have been generally understanding about the change. Still, it is says something unfortunate about the times that the slang usage of a word should carry more weight than the colorful and appropriately named title that had served the magazine well for so many years. No matter what the kids say, The Beaver will probably be missed.

In the meantime, ScribeMedia has gathered together a list of double-entendre headlines perpetrated by copy editors around the world. Enjoy:

Dean Coxx, Josh Griffin Romp Online

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

LAS VEGAS—For the most part, gay adult performer Dean Coxx spends his time with amateurs, shooting scenes for his website ClubDean.com. Because he is an independent, amateur performer who does not work with studios, Coxx rarely gets the opportunity to work with well-known performers, so when an opportunity arises, he leaps at it.

Such was the case recently when Coxx and Josh Griffin met for some good old-fashioned man-on-man playtime. Coxx called the session “one of the best shoots, if not the best shoot, I’ve ever done.”

Because both men are bodybuilders, they began by oiling up each other. Things progressed from there to a game of naked Twister. From there…well, you can guess where the game ended, and it gave Coxx inspiration for future website scenes.

“I’d like to give our members a mixture of both amateurs and real porn stars like Josh Griffin, especially if he’s any indication” of how pro-am scenes turn out, Coxx said. “I guess real porn stars are pros for a reason.”

The shoot “was different for Josh, too, because I know he doesn’t bottom a lot on camera,” Coxx continued. “We weren’t expecting it to happen. We were both just really turned on by each other, and that comes through in the footage. Something about us together just clicked.”

To see the Coxx-Griffin scene, visit ClubDean.com.

Ohio Scores Limited Victory In Attempts To Halt Web Porn

State Supreme Court limits scope of 2004 law, but it still conflicts with federal power

COLUMBUS, Ohio—The state of Ohio has just scored a minor victory in its attempts to regulate adult material on the internet, with the Ohio Supreme Court on Wednesday putting its stamp of approval on a scaled-back interpretation of the 2004 law's reach.

At issue was Ohio Revised Code (R.C.) 2907.31, which attempts to regulate material harmful to juveniles, which R.C. 2907.01(E) defines as "that quality of any material or performance describing or representing nudity, sexual conduct, sexual excitement, or sado-masochistic abuse in any form" which also violates a version of the Miller v. California obscenity test modified for minors.

Another section of the law, R.C. 2907.31(D), attempts to apply the "harmful to juveniles" restriction to communications over the Internet, cell phones and other electronic media by criminalizing anyone who "directly sells, delivers, furnishes, disseminates, provides, exhibits, rents, or presents or directly offers or agrees to sell, deliver, furnish, disseminate, provide, exhibit, rent, or present material or a performance to a juvenile, a group of juveniles, a law enforcement officer posing as a juvenile, or a group of law enforcement officers posing as juveniles in violation of this section by means of an electronic method of remotely transmitting information if the person knows or has reason to believe that the person receiving the information is a juvenile or the group of persons receiving the information are juveniles." However, another clause of the statute exempts a provider who has "inadequate information to know or have reason to believe that a particular recipient of the information or offer is a juvenile," or who uses a method of distribution "which does not provide the person the ability to prevent a particular recipient from receiving the information."

R.C. 2907.31 was itself a revision of a previous statute that had attempted to accomplish a similar purpose, R.C. 2907.01, and in 2002, a group of free speech advocates, including the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, the Ohio Newspaper Association and prominent psychologist Dr. Marty Klein, sued to prevent the communication restrictions in that earlier version of the law from going into effect, later amending their complaint to encompass the revised statute.

The parties to the suit had filed cross-motions for summary judgment with the U.S. District Court, and in 2007, that court permanently enjoined enforcement of the statute, ruling that the challenged section was "overbroad in violation of the First Amendment," having failed the strict scrutiny test for not being narrowly tailored to achieve its goal. In appealing the overbreadth ruling to the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, that court questioned whether the statute was susceptible to a construction which might avoid the need for a ruling on the statute's constitutional merits (or lack thereof). The issue centered on representations made by Ohio's Attorney General Richard Cordray, who stated that his office would limit the application of the statute only to "personally directed devices such as instant messaging, person-to-person e-mails and private chat rooms," but not to "material posted on generally accessible websites and in public chat rooms." The Sixth Circuit then asked the state Supreme Court to rule whether the attorney general's limiting construction of the statute was a valid interpretation of the law, and in Wednesday's opinion, the state high court ruled that it was.

"Of particular significance... is a sentence in the Attorney General's brief in which he claims that R.C. 2907.31(D)(2) 'clarifies that a person who does not "know or have reason to believe that a particular recipient of the information or offer is a juvenile" does not violate the statute upon transmitting harmful-to-juveniles material, even if a minor receives it'," wrote Justice Paul Pfeifer for the unanimous court. "We conclude that the scope of R.C. 2907.31(D) is limited to electronic communications that can be personally directed, because otherwise the sender of matter harmful to juveniles cannot know or have reason to believe that a particular recipient is a juvenile."

Michael A. Bamberger, who represents some of the plaintiffs in the underlying lawsuit, was generally pleased with the ruling, but concerned that the high court's opinion failed to deal with specific definitional issues that would arise were the law to be put into effect.

"We are pleased that the Ohio Supreme Court accepted the Ohio Attorney General's belated recognition that the statute was too broad, and should be construed narrowly," Bamberger said in a written statement to AVN. "The decision makes clear that persons who post non-obscene material on generally-accessible websites and in public chat rooms cannot be prosecuted based on an allegation that the material is harmful to minors."

"But the decision leaves many questions unanswered," he added. "What is a 'generally accessible website'? If a newspaper charges a fee for using its website, does that mean that it is not 'generally accessible'? And does that mean that an editor or reporter who posts non-obscene material on a newspaper's website can be prosecuted? If a university alumni website is accessible only to alumni, is the website 'generally accessible'? What makes a chat room a 'public chat room' rather than a 'private chat room'?"

"The decision is a step in the right direction," Bamberger concluded, "but still fails to make sure that the Ohio statute does not infringe free speech."

But even if the federal courts are satisfied with Ohio's response to the Sixth Circuit's questions, there remains the core issue of whether state law can be used to regulate content on the World Wide Web.

"There are a number of cases that deal with the 'dormant Commerce Clause'," noted First Amendment attorney Clyde DeWitt. "The dormant Commerce Clause doctrine says that if something is inherently interstate activity, then Congress, under the Commerce Clause, has the exclusive power to regulate it unless they expressly delegate it to the states, and they haven't done that in the case of internet content. The only instance that I know of where they've done that is the CAN-SPAM Act; states can apply their laws of general application like fraud to mass-distributed e-mails."

"I think this statute needs one more line in it," agreed First Amendment attorney Marc Randazza, "and that is a restriction on this conduct to where the speaker and the receiver are both in Ohio. Even then, it might have some problems, but from a purely federal constitutional level, without that, how can it be enforced against anyone outside Ohio's borders?"

But what would happen if the Sixth Circuit vacates the injunction and the law goes into effect?

"Look at the mess we've got here," Randazza assessed. 'You've got to look at what's suitable for juveniles in Ohio, but also somebody else, who knows where they are, and what's acceptable in that community—and don't forget, the transmitter can be a juvenile as well. If I've got a kid who comes home from his sex education class in some civilized place, and then transmits to the deepest red of Ohio, sends a message over Facebook to a friend of his, saying, 'Hey, today we learned where the clitoris is'—if somebody came from their high school health class and transmitted that information to another juvenile they know, it doesn't have to be some kind of salacious content that we'd all agree we'd like to be controlling if my kid gets that—this could very easily be an interstate discussion between two minors over something educational in nature, but the way this statute is written, you would judge it by the kind of community where Citizens for Community Values exists. Are we going to look at where they have a base of power, what's acceptable in that community?"

Citizens for Community Values is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

"What I'm worried about is, you have laws like this that can apply to minors communicating with other minors," Randazza continued. "You know, I'll bet my law license that some kid is going to wind up dragged into some hysterical court case some day because he sent his girlfriend a picture of his dick, or his girlfriend sent a picture of her tits to him, and next thing you know, we're going to have some other law named after a dead kid and they're all going to conflate, and some kid's going to wind up being registered as a sex offender because of this. I'd just like to see a psychological evaluation of the people who feel that these laws are so necessary, because they've got to be fighting pedophilic demons that are inside themselves. I wouldn't even think you'd need a law like this."

According to an Associated Press article, the Ohio Supreme Court's clarification of the scope of R.C. 2907.31 will now be used by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to decide whether to uphold the preliminary injunction granted to the plaintiffs by the district court, which might signal an end to the case altogether, or whether the case will have to be further litigated in federal court to reach a determination on both the First Amendment and Commerce Clause aspects of the law.

Judge Okays Janine’s Vivid Movie

Her first on-camera anal ... and then into the halfway house

PORN VALLEY—Veteran star Janine Lindemulder has received the OK from U.S. District Judge Thomas Coffin to appear in an as-yet-untitled Vivid movie before she must report to a Portland, Ore., halfway house on Feb. 5 for violating her probation on her income tax case.

"This is a major victory," the embattled star told AVN. "They had two hearings involving the U.S. government. The judge had said absolutely not, and what he was basing his decision on was that he had watched the Linda Lovelace documentary where she was abused, and he thought the industry was as it was portrayed in the Linda Lovelace thing. We finally convinced him, saying it's not like that whatsoever, and so he didn't approve it; what he said was, 'I'm not approving it but I'm not denying it, so if you want to do it, go ahead,' but he didn't want to put his stamp of approval on it. So it is a go, and we're going to shoot that before I have to report, but it was really exciting, because for porn to go up against the government and win is always exciting."

At Janine's original hearing on Jan. 20, Judge Coffin had forbidden the star from appearing in any form of adult entertainment—movies, dancing, webcam—until after the completion of her sentence, which is scheduled to occur on Sept. 7, 2010. But Janine pressed the issue of her work, and her attorney filed a motion asking the judge to reconsider his ruling, which motion was granted today.

"What we were fighting for was the right to work," Janine explained. "They had stopped all my work as if it was a hobby, and I said, 'This isn't a hobby; this is something that has been my career for 23 years,' and they wouldn't let me do anything in the industry. I said, 'You guys are leaving me to be destitute, and the only thing I can do is sell my belongings, and then when I get out of the halfway house, I'll have absolutely nothing: no car, no furniture, no nothing.' And finally, he agreed that we could do the movie, and this movie will keep us afloat until we're back. It's exciting, and right now, I'm trying to beg Jill Kelly to be a part of it. It's good; it's really exciting."

Janine had been consulting on the movie's script with award-winning director B. Skow, and before the judge's Jan. 20 ruling, principal shooting had been scheduled to begin last week. The schedule has now been rearranged so that all camera work can be accomplished before Janine's deadline.

"It's my first anal movie, which I've never done before," she said. "And it's with my husband, so we've been practicing, and we're really going to put every little ounce of effort into this and do the best we can, and hopefully people will just eat it up. I haven't seen what [B. Skow] has done, but from what I've heard, he does vignettes similar to what Andrew Blake does, but nastier or grittier or something like that. So we're right there with him."

"I feel like a caged animal that's just been released," she continued. "It's been four years since I shot a movie, and to do my first anal with my husband and to actually win against the government, it just fuels the fire, and I'm ready to explode on screen."

Although there had been rumors of several planned Janine projects to be lensed before her return to custody, Janine says that the Vivid movie will be the only one in which she will participate.

"This one is enough to keep us afloat," she reflected. "I have to report to Portland to a halfway house on Feb. 5, and I'm actually really looking forward to it because it's a really good organization, and I'll just do this one movie; my storage will be paid, and my bills and stuff, but as soon as I'm out of the halfway house and off probation—probably not even off probation; as soon as I'm out of the halfway house in four months, we're back, and my next role is to do an epic blockbuster with Vaniity; just her and I on the cover, and it's going to be her and I equally, and it's going to be good; definitely a big, big, huge comeback."

The Digital Playground contract star will appear Thursday with Sam Tripoli, Owen Benjamin, Danielle Stewart and others at the Hollywood Improv.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Adult superstar Kayden Kross is set to co-host the “Naughty Comedy” show Thursday night at the Improv in Hollywood, Calif. She also will perform in the show alongside a stellar lineup of comedians. Famed celebrity sex tape broker and American Cannibal star Kevin “KB” Blatt will emcee and perform.

“Naughty Comedy” was created in 2008 by comedian Sam Tripoli as a way to offer audiences stand-up comedy, audience interaction, interviews, pre-produced videos and other special performances. Tripoli also will perform Thursday.

According to Blatt, Thursday night’s show will be different from previous incarnations.

“Considering how witty and bright Kayden is, this show is going to be a very special evening,” he told AVN. “Kayden’s going to be a huge draw, and believe me when I say she will be tons of fun when we bring her up on stage. We’ve had many great porn stars [take part in the show] in the past—Jenna Haze, Belladonna, Puma Swede and NIkki Benz, to name a few—but we have never had a contract girl before. So this really is special for us, and 'Naughty Comedy' wants to thank Digital Playground for letting us have so much fun with Kayden Kross tomorrow night.”

"I'm stoked,” Kross told AVN. “Sam Tripoli rocks. We worked together on the Vivid comedy show in Vancouver when I was brand new to the industry, and we had a great time."

Scheduled to start at 10 p.m., “Naughty Comedy” also will feature Bryan Callen (The Hangover), KT Tatara (Comedy Central), Owen Benjamin (The Jay Leno Show), Danielle Stewart (Chelsea Lately), Julia Lillis (E! Entertainment) and Bunny Fever.

The Hollywood Improv is located at 8162 Melrose Ave.

Religious Right Tries to Take a Bite Out of Apple ? Again

Posted in porn star news  by AVN Industry News

Anti-porn crusader Pat Trueman accuses Apple of making ‘pornography’ available through its iTunes Store

WASHINGTON, DC—Religious extremist and former Justice Department official Pat Trueman is at it again, making outrageous accusations in order to bring public and economic pressure on Apple for supposedly making hardcore pornography available through its iTunes Store.

"Children are getting pornography through Apple, [and] of course adults are," Trueman told OneNewsNow, a right-wing news site formerly known as AgapePress News Summary. "Much of it's free, and some of it you pay 99 cents for, but iTunes is now filled with pornography—and this is a development that has been building for some time."

Indeed, Trueman himself has been the one developing this issue over the years. In July 2008, AVN reported on the former prosecutor’s fears regarding iTunes, which he said was making it too easy for children to access content. Porn, he warned, was not far off.

"What you're finding now is a couple of podcasts that are almost entirely sexually explicit with Apple saying that these are OK for now," he said, and called on parents to contact Apple to voice their concerns. “Go to Apple.com customer service and suggest to them that they should keep iTunes clean," he suggested. "iTunes is where many children get their music, get their movies, etc. So it's entirely open to children—and Apple is mindful of that. We've to get Apple convinced that it should monitor it very closely."

A year and a half later, Trueman is obviously unsatisfied with Apple’s response to his followers’ concerns, and he is trying to instigate another public outcry.

“Trueman believes this is something the public should not tolerate,” said OneNewsNow, “especially if they have children who can access the site either through computers or iPhones. He suggests they contact Apple and register a complaint.”

According to Trueman, one simple step takes customers, including children, to hardcore material, "so a child that's looking on [the] computer at the Apple site iTunes will not only see nudity there, but they just have to click on a link and they're in the midst of hardcore pornography."

Of course, that assertion simply is not true. The Apple iTunes store—if that is precisely what Trueman is referring to, which is questionable—is notorious for not allowing explicit imagery on its site.

A recent article in the Las Vegas Weekly cites just this fact with respect to iPhone Apps, some of which do contain sexually oriented content.

“The iPhone has applications for just about everything—games, music and videos. But what about pornography? Now there is an app for that. In fact, there are now hundreds of apps for porn, but consumers won’t find them in the Apple App Store; they’ll find them in the Sex App Shop,” wrote Katherine Fernelius.

Of course, it could also be that Trueman sees pornography where it does not actually exist. Considering the fact that current and former clients of his include radical right-wing associations such as the American Family Association, Morality in Media, the Family Research Council and the Alliance Defense Fund, to name a few, one is safe in concluding that Trueman is once again tactically crying “fire” before an actual blaze exists.

These small works of art combine the quest for pleasure with timeless elegance. Only upon close inspection does the observer get a more exact idea how much passion is packed into each exceptional design.

The DeLight already won the reddot design award in 2008—the first erotic toy ever to gain this honor—and also was nominated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology for the Design Prize 2009. The iF product design award marks the fourth commendation the DeLight has received for design.

The white vibrator BiMiNi FLASH also makes a statement with its unique floral-inspired design. This sleek, elegant bud form has an extra offshoot, which as a standout style element opens the door for playful experimentation. Never has stylish design been so much fun.

The SMARTBALLS teneo duo is a work of design poured from a single molding. Tension is created by the repeating relief that wraps around both balls. The SMARTBALLS teneo duo were already awarded the design prize “Gute Gestaltung 10” from the German Designer Club (DDC) in the category “product.”

The renowned iF product design award has been handed out since 1953 and is considered to be one of the most important design awards worldwide. This year, nearly 2,500 submissions from 39 countries fought for the coveted design seal of approval. The three winning products from Fun Factory, along with all winning designs, will be exhibited at the iF product design award exhibition in 2010 in Hanover from March to August 2010.

Mickey?s Quickies | Sharon Kane Sings for Haiti, Raging Stallion Films More ?Arabians,? Suite 703 Re-Launches

I had a long chat this week with Raging Stallion’s Chris Ward and asked him how he could possibly top his Focus/ReFocus film noir epic. His answer? He’s already in the editing room with a movie he and Ben Leon co-directed. Tales of the Arabian Nights stars some very hot new guys, including a few new Turkish studs.

Some of the sets may be reminiscent of RSS’s Arabesque, but the new title includes a Turk named Aybans, whom Ward found on the free Cam4.com website.

It turns out that although free sites like Cam4 make it hard for pay sites to profit, live-cam sites can be a great place to find sexy new stars. A couple of the guys in Focus/ReFocus got their start playing around in front of a camera on Cam4.com, Ward said.

Look for the first part of Tales of the Arabian Nights to come out at the end of April; the second part will debut in July.

And speaking of Focus/ReFocus … Ward said the “mainstream” version due later this year from Breaking Glass Pictures will be a two-disc Blu-ray set that will include about 10 additional scenes not shown in the XXX version.

“I think the sex is more integrated as part of the story, and we shot more scenes with the idea that it would be a feature-length indie movie,” Ward said. “[The mainstream cut] does have a cum shot and some hard dick, so it will have to be released unrated, like [John Cameron Mitchell’s indie film] Short Bus.”

The mainstream movie runs 75 minutes and is expected to be available at Blockbuster and Netflix. Ward said he hopes to take the title to GLBT and other film festivals.

He also said he plans to be more involved in shooting movies this year, and he plans to focus on shooting more sex.

“It’s all about the penetration,” he told me, laughing. “I feel like I’ve not had as much time to do the shooting that I want to do because I’ve focused so much this last year on [expanding] the business.”

An increased emphasis on hardcore sex doesn’t mean Raging Stallion will turn away from story porn and acting. Ward told me he extensively ran lines with Focus/ReFocus leads Cole Streets and David Taylor. Both men came to the set “prepared like real actors,” Ward said—especially for the chilling finale at the end.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that these guys could make it in the mainstream world as actors,” he insisted.

Moving on: Last week porn chanteuse Sharon Kane picked up a microphone for the first time this century and sang in public. The performance was for a good cause: All proceeds went to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.

Kane joined husband Chris and his brother Vince Grant to sing with the band Gideon Chrome at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub in Hollywood, Calif. She may have appeared nervous at first, but she got into the spirit right away and harmonized to Grant’s heartfelt ballads and soft-rock songs.

“It was great getting back up on stage to sing; it felt good,” Kane remarked after her set.

The band also performed Monday at Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood, and plans to perform in other venues, as well. For more information and other gigs, check out MySpace.com/gideonchrome.

A couple of quickies:

The gay XXX mega-site Suite703.com just relaunched with a whole bunch of new studs. Among other things, the site offers new scenes and exclusive photo spreads featuring Drew Cutler, Spencer Whitman, and Rob Romoni, all represented by Jason Sechrest's DV8 Casting.
Double penetration abounds in the new Cruising for Sex extravaganza Double Dick the Studs, directed by Keith Griffith. Arpad Miklos, Kevin Slater and Tommy Deluca do some incredible DP-ing. Condoms are used in some scenes and others are bareback. The popularity of the new release sparked a new fetish website, DoubleDick.tv.
